Hi, fabulous readers. Hope to be sleuthing out some more interesting investment ideas momentarily, but for now let me announce the winners of the latest Stock Gumshoe contest.
If you recall, the two prizes to be given were for best poster, and for best post over at the Stock Gumshoe Forum.
And I must say, the judging wasn’t easy. I’ve been very pleased by the contributions y’all have made to the forum, and I love that it’s one of the few discussion spots I know where I can find consistently thoughtful, polite comments from some really bright investors. So in that way, all who participate are winners.
But the one who takes the prize for this week is Hexek16. He (or she) almost walked away from the competition, with a bevy of beautiful comments and useful contributions. Thoughtful comments on another poster’s portfolio and a well-supported argument in favor of Geely Automotive helped to garner this prize for Hexdek16, who has been one of the more prolific posters in the short life of the forum.
And the other prize, for best post, is a tie between two posters who sleuthed out teaser solutions at the forum last week: tom76, who illuminated CRXX as Stansberry’s latest Phase 1 Investor teaser pick; and The Fox, who sleuthed out SXCI as the other company being teased in that same ad. I don’t actually know if their sleuthed out solutions are correct, but the other posters seem to support their picks and I expect they’re on the right track.
Since all the posting was so excellent, I won’t even make tom76 and The Fox split their prize — so they’ll each get the full $50 cash prize via paypal, as will Hexdek16. That seems a decent way of giving back most of the ad revenue that the forum has pulled in over the past couple months, since posters like these three are who make the Stock Gumshoe Forum worthwhile.
Thanks to everyone for making the forum such a great and vibrant resource this past week (and in months past and to come). I’ll try to run another contest before too long — or maybe just throw out some prizes randomly when great posts crop up.
For those who aren’t interested in the forum … I’ll be back to regular ‘ol Gumshoe postings momentarily. Just have to fire up the trusty Thinkolator 4000 after a week in mothballs.
