The Gumshoe’s New Clothes
January 16th, 2008   by StockGumshoe|       |
Well, after banging my head against the wall to get new articles posted for you for the past week, to no avail (thanks to those who noticed I was missing!), I’ve had to move the site to new hosting … and I’m taking this opportunity to do a quick on-the-fly redesign, as you’ll probably notice if you’re not just stopping by for the first time today.
By the time you read this, I hope the site will have the proper URL — but everything else should be in working order.
For the Gumshoe faithful, here are the important things to note:
You don’t have to do anything new to keep reading your favorite neighborhood Stock Gumshoe. Your existing subscription will still work, as will any URLs or bookmarks you might have from old posts.
It is my goal to make sure that this is as seamless as possible and that the only difference you notice is the new design of the site.
And if you have comments or questions about the site design, I’d be happy to hear them. Anything else you’d like to see here? Some of the limitations of my past hosting arrangement are being lifted, so I might be able to add some new features if you’re interested. So far, I think I’ve moved over everything important that was in the original Stock Gumshoe site design, but if I’ve missed something you like please, or put it in an inconvenient place, please let me know.
This will be a work in progress, I’ll be tweaking the site as we move on. But now I should be able to get back to a reasonable writing (and researching) schedule and get you a new sleuthed stock most days of the week. So the next time you hear from me, hopefully very soon, it will be with an idea that I’m fairly certain will promise to make all of us millionaires before breakfast tomorrow.
Here’s hoping the current market malaise will at least bring out a great new crop of teaser emails from all of our favorite newsletters!
The author will always disclose any direct long or short equity, debt or option position in any stocks written about as of the day of publication, and will not trade in any stocks mentioned for three days after publication. Full disclaimer is at the bottom of the page. More Gumshoe goodness: Uncategorized

I love your emails and I really am glad you are having to change your host. This already looks better. I only have one suggestion to add: your picture.

I enjoy your crisp prose and direct approach to the stock market. Don’t know too much about sites. Just started receiving your reports about a week ago. Missed you when you were away.

I enjoy your website and a regular contributor to the forum doing my own sleuthing. I actually prefer the original color scheme. It was much easier on the eyes and probably because it had a green theme. Brown, beige, and wheat colors are, I should say, kind of a drab, sorry. I would add an easier way to get to the forum by having a button or a larger, more emphasized link that’s easy to see. It’s hard to find especially if it’s clandestinely located right above “Archives”. Otherwise, the overall layout is great! More power to you and your website!

Just wondering what was wrong with your previous host (Blogger, I think)? If you feel uncomfortable posting here, can you please email me? Thanks very much and keep up the great work.

I like brown, beige and wheat colors! And I like your style of writing. My portfolio was littered with “pump and dump” stocks until I discovered your column and your description of how thinly traded stocks can go up or down with “recommendations”. Thanks.

Thanks folks — I appreciate the kind comments, and the suggestions and criticisms, I will be working to make small improvements here and there, but for now I’m just happy to be able to post every day again. Thanks for the comments!

Great to see you back. I had been wondering what had happened as I know that the stock newsletter promos have not stopped—-in fact, they are in high gear with all the fear rampant in the markets.

Geoff, thanks for letting me know that problem — I can’t make it not work, but have a limited test environment. Do you know what browser and version number you’re using?
Anyone else having technical problems?
Mike, my experience with Doubling Stocks has me more convinced than ever that it’s a pure pump and dump hiding behind the “paid service” — I have certainly never paid them, but they send me their “picks” anyway, which tells me their only motive is to run up the share price. I’d stay far away from any of their picks, but that’s just me.

Hi there,
I just ran across a promotion from Agora Financial called, “The Paddle Strategy”. They claim that some of the richest investors of ALL TIMES have used this to propel their fortunes into the stratosphere!!
What’s with THAT strategy?
Thanks!
