To say the least; I have owned and operated heavy equipment and operated trucks in my own company. I also have heard the truck driver preferences and dependability conversation concerning diesel engines. Views are mixed, however Cummins seems to stand above the rest in many circles. In my opinion, Cummins engines have been far superior to catapillar, detroit diesel and most other diesel engines within the tractor trailer industry and with certain heavy equipment. I am very familiar with the Cummins company and their diesel engines. If Cummins is willing to put their name and reputation on the line to plunge into this niche market; I suspect this market will no longer be a niche market for very long. Everyone can read more details from another perspective at this website: http://www.altenergystocks.com/archives/2007/07/

This will be a growing market. I think it will gain momentum because of limited choices of perfected technologies that are ready for mass production and distribution and because of global demand for fossil fuels that is consistently growing beyond anyone's control. China and India will soon be the most aggressive and demanding buyers of fossil fuels in the world. (You cannot stop a freight train moving down railway tracks by a few complaining individuals standing on the track. I don't have to assure anyone, they will get run over and destroyed.) In America, we have no economically advantaged choice; but to shift to alternative energy strategies to come out economically sound and strong in the next 2 decades. If we try to stay with our traditional fossil fuel consumption patterns for the last several decades; we will all suffer tremendously high fuel costs and wreck our economy within the next 5 to 30 years.

A force more powerful than stock speculator opinions, professional market analysts and fear on the American people; will drive the coming energy markets. These professional people will be scrambling for answers; while the markets build themselves based on demand and the innovators whose timing answers the cry of the market for better options. We need to take up the simple OLD truth of Supply and Demand. Supply is what it is. You can well believe China and India will demand more than what supply is currently. These 2 mega giant growth economies will suck up every drop of fossil fuel they can purchase on the open market in the next 2 to 5 decades. More than any growth economies in the history of the world.

Therefore, alternative energy strategies will be FORCED into place to help save and stabilize the American economy.

The greedy oil giants of America will cripple our national economy if they try to hold their market position of control just because of greed and profits, above embracing and shifting to alternative energy strategies for the good of the country. In a few short years; we will all suffer much more than we are now.

Alternative energy strategies are no longer speculative markets to consider and just study for the next 5 years; it is the direction we must embrace and pursue with success as our only outcome.

Kudos to Jeff Siegel.
Like you say GS, hard to resist real money.
See WPT.TO for very interesting current news and developments.
Might buy more on pullbacks to 8.
Joint partner CMI has come up from 38 to 66, possibly headed for 93.

Hi Gumshoe, have been a regular reader of your blogs. I read the newsletter last week and did some research on "Industry Innovation Award 2007" mentioned in the newsletter. The recipient was Kenworth Truck Company, a division of PCCAR Inc.

Cummins now produces engines that, in some cities, the exhaust coming out the tailpipe is cleaner than what is going in the engine to begin with due to particulate filters. Food for thought. As far as I know, Cummins is the only diesel manufacturer to meet 2010 california standards.
