Now, Uranium is my fave for alternative energy. Uranium stocks got some 50% haircut so it is time to buy. According to many write ups the current production is not even enough to supply the existing nuclear plants. That means they are using up some of the old stockpile. China has plan for 20 plants. India and others are doing the same. So there is tremendous upside for uranium. It takes many years from exploration, development, permitting to production so I limit myself to near term or current producers. I have positions on UUU.TO, PDN.TO, DNN, STM.TO, UEX.TO etc. Maybe I will buy some Uranium Participation. Rio Tinto and BHP is too expensive for me. They already have their run up. I am late to the party, LOL.

20 years ago I supervised a group that operated a 2 Megawatt solar installation. It was not viable then but because of big subsidy by government agencies it was installed. I thought then and still do it was a big boondoggle. We charged it to gaining experience and knowledge. Unless the thin film technology using other than silicon is perfected, PV is still a pie in the sky and I would stay away. OK, confession time: I have LEAP option on Applied Materials(AMAT). It was teased so convincingly that I acted on it but it is not doing good.

When considering an investment in any solar company, don't forget to take the world silicon shortage into account. Computer manufacturers are apparently able to consistently outbid the solar companies for the stuff. I started the year with three solar companies in my portfolio. I've now dumped them all in favor of agriculture. That's my $.02.

I think your right. I heard that G.E. had given an exclusive contract for this technology to an aussie company. My trade on URRE was lucky, but who cares if you make money.

Hi Gary -- if this one is the same one that I saw teased many times over the past year or two it's Silex. I wrote about it last April here: http://www.stockgumshoe.com/2007/04/classified-uranium-enrichment-secret.html
