Just a partially related mention FYI:
National Fuel Gas (NFG) company site describes their partnering activity in the Marcellus, and their subsidiary activities. The stock (~$46.50) had a nice run up over recent 6 months or so.

Range Resources, Atlas, and CNX are all doing land leases for the mineral rights, atleast in Greene County. Google Range Resources, they do have a website. Good Luck!!

CNX Gas, which was spun out of CONSOL energy a while back, is also an interesting company -- they're more of a coal bed methane producer, but they are doing shale work in many of the same areas as Atlas -- including the Chattanooga shale as well as the Marcellus. It's a bit pricier and doesn't pay a dividend, but has a more established production history, and some nice reserves in the Appalachian coal seams.

As for whether it fits this "teaser", Atlas is a much better fit -- there were few specific clues, but the 6,600 wells and the 24 years of average experience for their execs fit Atlas perfectly, and do not fit CNX Gas. The ticker for CNX Gas is CXG if anyone wants to check them out.
