FYI. Anyone must consistently check out as free of cancer cells for FIVE YEARS for doctors to consider them "cured" of cancer. Note of encouragement: My mother died last year at age 92 after beating different kinds of cancer twice in her life, once in her 40's and again in her 80's. Hope grows, thank God.

There isn't a whole lot that isn't in a strong downtrend these days according to most charting software I look at (I don't generally rely very heavily on any kind of technical analysis, but I like to keep an eye on it).

Whether you ever want to buy stocks that are technically in a downtrend depends really on what kind of investor you are, and what your strategy is -- are you looking for beaten down, undervalued companies that you believe will return to their "true" value at some point, or do you think the fundamentals are on the verge of improving significantly and the Street is underestimating that, or are you trying to ride momentum, or something inbetween?

There are good rationales for many different investment strategies and systems at least some of the time, but if you don't have a good sense for why you're making buy decisions it's going to be very hard to be unemotional and make wise selling decisions later on.

ARAY definitely appaers to be state of the art technology, and the stock price has fallen a lot. Negatives however are very poor, greedy management. Since being public they continue to give themselves most of the small profits they have made to date. [They typically give themselves 80% to 90% of profits via stock options.] Likewise future purchases could be hurt due to lack of available credit.
