Assuming that the USD is staggering and looking for a soft place to sit, Precious metals and oil are obvious sanctuaries. For currencies, and metal puchases, Everbank is my preference. Chuck Butler offers individual as well as grouped C.D.s and his helpful associats will guide you but cannot advise you. Prices and fees are great and the C.D.s pay a decent return.

Obviously the AUD$ has done very well over the past couple of months. If the "recovery" continues, then this might be nice and solid (of course, if it doesn't...)

Just for a 360* perspective, you might want to check out Steve Keens blog and the article he references.

Best wishes everyone!

For a better play on Australia...I prefer IAF, a closed end equity fund. It's the Aberdeen Australia Equity Fund, with a 6.8% yield paying quarterly distributions. Unfortunately, the price now exceeds the NAV; luckily I bought it a long time ago when it was still at at discount. Holdings include BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, and other quality Aussie stocks.
