newsletters and advice; At age 73, I should be well fixed, but I have had bad luck following advice which was supposed to make me rich. I have deleted all newsletters and now listen only to gumshoe and his followers’ comments to make investing decisions. Hope it goes well in the future.

Having Our Yellowcake and Eating it Too: Paladin Energy
Fukushima Daini proved that nuclear power is very safe. That wasn’t a typo–Daini, not Daichi. Fukushima Number One (Daichi) is the infamous reactor complex. Fukushima Number Two (Daini) is seven miles down the coast and was also hit by the earthquake and tsunami. (Please see this striking images of the tsunami at Daini: http://depletedcranium.com/dainipics.jpg ) […]

So, I’m sitting here one day, poised in front of the computer, wasting time, when I get an email explaining in detail the upcoming ”End of America” Being American for 54 years now, my curiosity was piqued. What seemed like 2 hours later, i found myself subscribed to a multitude of Newsletters, most of which […]

What would you say if I told you we could generate 20% more electricity from a nuclear power plant generate less waste and at the same time making the power safer? Lightbridge Energy (LTBR) has the recipe. Lightbridge started out in 1992 working on a fuel rod design that used thorium as a complement/alternative to […]

Essentially that’s what you’re doing when you buy shares of QXM, a Chinese phone manufacturer with $400 million cash on its books. Sounds like a great opportunity, but of course, with great opportunity there is also great risk. So in true Stock Gumshoe tradition, I will attempt to write a balanced summary on this company […]

Hi Travis. My investment idea of the year has to be Axion Power International. This tiny company’s share price has been hit very hard by two very large distressed sellers over the last year or so. What makes it very special is that it has invented and patented a way of making a lead acid […]

Precious metal mining companies who pay dividends (not that there are many) could pay in metal. Who wouldn’t rather have even a few grams of gold, silver or platinum that likely will preserve their value in this era of plunging currencies. Maybe it could be deposited direct into Bullion Vault via a new type of […]

I’m most thankful this year for our favorite gumshoe sharing the whole Sandstorm story with us as I think these sister’s will be loved by all who invest in them. Nolan Watson is one of the most confident and intellegent individuals in the streaming business and now that he has reported the 3Q for SG […]

Now that Europe has joined the QE club, I think that investments in the PM sector will soar. I know that it will be a very jumpy ride and the art of making money will be determined by getting in at he right time and not be too gready (get out before this bubble bursts). […]

While on the one hand many so-called experts are calling gold a worse investment than a tall man’s shop in Tokyo, I will go out on a limb and predict a 50% increase (to 2400) by this time next year. If you simply adjust for inflation from 30 years ago this figure is probably on […]

I would love to see stock gumshoe do more than reveal teaser stocks by creating a credibility metric for the source of a specific teaser. i.e. ”XYZ’ s teased stock is Blammo Corp.” In 2009 through 2011, XYZ’s recommendations returned x per cent. I know there is an end of year analysis of percentage gains […]

A Look Back at 2011’s “Big” Winning Teases
We’re preparing to shut down Gumshoe HQ for a week or so — one vestige of my former life in academia is a strong belief that no one should work between Christmas and New Year’s Day, so we will not be publishing anything new until next year (don’t worry, we’ll still keep an eye on […]

Just a quick note — as I tried to remind folks to take advantage of some tax loss selling as we close out the year, so I’ve moved a bit in that direction myself. I don’t carry a lot of my individual stock investments in taxable accounts, but there are enough positions in those accounts […]
