Thoughts on GE

I am looking into buying some GE shares, they are hovering around 20 bucks. Been doing some research on GE, and see analyst knock GE down because of the debt size. I know numbers are one thing. But I strongly believe in ”invest in businesses you understand” philosophy. And I think like most, I know GE pretty well, and its a forward thinking company, they spend heavy on R&D, its presence is global, as far as I know they are in the process of fixing GE Capital. My investment objective is growth, so I think long term GE should be a good bet. What do other Irregulars think. Thanks!

I am not the typical person to reply to analytical inquires. We have owned GE for the past 15 months. It has paid a dividend that is now .17/share. We are up $1307 today and the share prices is down $0.18. I find the company one that fits my Buffett filter. I look forward to the news coverage, they seem to be going in the right direction in nearly every item covered from Natural gas to astronaut inner eye research. GE has been a great trade, post meltdown from a few years ago. We watched as GE broke below $6.00/share and began to recover. We could not purchase that day as we were fully invested and had to take profits on other positions as they moved up but we did purchase a large block at just over $10.00/share and we have been happy campers. Our personal trade plan includes writing covered calls for income each month so we have income as the position grows in value and dividends increased after the 66% divy cut.
