I came across your website a while back and find it very interesting. I recently joined as a free member for now but maybe more later.

Im just curious to know how you decided to do this sort of thing, what your background or credentials are and what you hope to accomplish? This is such a unique site Im just curious how it got started and what keeps you going? No I don’t intend to copy you I’m just curious.

Dont mean to be to nosey(sp?). Id also like to get your personal opinion on Larry R. Williams the commodity trader. I’ve read a couple of his books and have always wondered what others who may follow him think. He’s been around a long, long time and just strikes me as a little more legit than others.

  1. Thanks for reading!

Stock Gumshoe was born out of my curiosity — I was an academic, and found it irresistible to research these teasers and decipher the clues, both because I’m an individual investor who’s looking for ideas and because I just plain don’t like it when someone knows something I don’t.

I was already a writer, and I’d been sharing my investing ideas in a personal blog and on Seeking Alpha for a few years to some mild acclaim, so writing up my thoughts and findings came naturally. After that, lots of people started to notice and follow my musings … and the rest is history. We just passed our fifth anniversary of publishing Stock Gumshoe a few months ago — If I had set it up and planned for htis to also be a business I’m sure it never would have worked, but because It was born from passionate interest and curiosity with no thought about whether folks would ever want to pay for it, well, it has worked out fine so far.

I’m quite blessed to have found and attracted an extremely supportive group of readers, the best looking, thinkin’est, most erudite, and most generous folks in cyberspace, and it’s a pleasure to write for them every day.

Oh, and on your actual question — I’m afraid I don’t know Larry Williams or his work at all. I do have a large number of investments in commodity-related stocks, but have never really delved into trading actual commodities.
