What’s with the Stansberry ads?

I thought you were all about uncovering teasers and bypassing the ads, why do you have a Stansberry ad in your email?

Hi friend, Stock Gumshoe is supported both by advertising and by paid memberships.
We try to avoid selling ad space in our newsletter directly to stock promoters who are running pump and dump campaigns, but we do accept ads from the folks we write about and from any other publishers — most of the ads are sold through brokers, and not selected or solicited by Stock Gumshoe directly.
Publishers are apparently usually happy to advertise with us even when we write critical things about them, though we have had ad campaigns pulled or canceled due to stories we’ve written about those potential advertisers. That doesn’t bother me, we do not adjust our editorial coverage based on the ads we run. Advertisements in the daily email are marked as such, and we do not endorse our advertisers in any way. We have run many ads that we’ve already covered editorially, both positively and negatively.
Most ads on the site are handled by ad networks like Google and we do not pick or choose the advertisers in any way, but the ads should all be identifiable as advertisements depending on the format and criteria that Google or the other ad networks are using for such identification at any given time.

What’s your opinion of the new All Weather Investor being offered by Douglas Davenport?
I saw this offer as well and checked out the video. When something sounds too good to be true, it is. Apparently this guy developed a model by fitting the previous 5 or so years of data. This is all hindsight and it’s likely flawed to use it to predict the future.
Just my 2 cents on Douglas Davenport,
This sounds to good to be true and would not do it for the following reasons:
1) In the video he said he got called by Sir John himself and in fact it was Sir John’s son;
2) During those years, he was instructed to mirror Warren Buffet. Hence, Berkshire’s legal counsel sent them a legal letter telling them to remove all references to Berkshire in their literature. Plus if Douglas was that good, why do you need to imitate someone else? WHY… because he doesn’t have an idea on his own that can beat the indexes.
3) In the video, they keep referencing “model” portfolio not an actual portfolio with published results. Martin has pulled this BS with other offerings like Claus and MCP. It was a back tested model…. BIG SECRET: His back tested model will always beat the S&P by a country model because you keep tweaking it for what would have worked. When it comes time to implement it going forward, it BOMBS OUT MISERABLE.
If you would listen to the clowns at Weiss, you would have sold out at the bottom waiting for the Great Depression 2 and in fact you would have gotten back to even by not listening to their scare tactics. I lost a lot of money with them, please do not do the same.
