written by reader Will THORIUM reactors REPLACE URANIUM reactors soon?

By xiexgp, December 23, 2013

Myron & others: The answer to this question of proliferating THORIUM reactors instead of URANIUM based
(long term radioactive waste generating) URANIUM reactors) is a key speculative investment scenario. Travis Johnson, Myron and interested investors feel free to spin a yarn regarding this discussion.

Since I first heard of Thorium (in a book called Superfuel by Richard Martin) I’ve been on tenterhooks waiting for it to become a common subject of conversation in the context of Global Warming……..If I’d held my breath I’d be 6 feet under by now!!!! I want to invest in Thorium Reactors and companies mining the stuff ( which is extremely commonplace on earth). Did you know that one mining company in US had it as a byproduct & didn’t know what to do with it? Anyway, I watched the Karl Denninger interview and enjoyed it . Did you also see the little c.4min talk not far below it? The one with the metal ball in a hand? Equally interesting in its own way because it told how we could virtually replace gasoline out of the byproducts of our own atmosphere!! If you want to know more about Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs) get onto the website of a company called Transatomic Power (TAP) …and no, its not a Public company; however it MAKES MSRs!!! Also check with Uni of Sheffield, U.K. which has devised a single process disposal method for dealing with MSR waste. It can reduce volume of waste by 90% by combining it with blast-furnace slag at high temps until it forms an Obsidian-like glass which locks in the radioactive material. Sounds v. interesting. I think what I like most about the idea of Thorium reactors is that they will use up the Radioacive waste lying around the world waiting to cause us problems as their fuel load AND that there will NEVETR be another Chernobyl or Fukushima type disaster again. I really like that!!! I saw a film somewhere also and , I believe Canada is where a lot of work is being done re Thorium. Having spread out my jackdaw’s acquisitions I’ll leave you all to digest and search. AND, Please the first someone hears about a Public company involved with
Thorium mining or MSR production, let Travis know. Thank you, Sue.

ECT IS MY CHOICE FOR THE THORIUM PLAY. IN 3 WEEKS I AM UP ALMOST $ 800.00 EVEN WITH THE LOSS FRIDAY. THE COMPANY STATS DO NOT MENTION THORIUM. THEY ARE A LEADER IN RARE EARTH MATERIALS PREPARATION.

Im not a big fan of nuclear power. The accident in japan is a great example of what can go wrong if the wrong factors are in place. I have heard that thorium is safer so what how much safer. If the accident in japan was in iowa the results would be felt around the world Any kind of nuclear accident in a bread basket of the world in the united states or russia or canada is unthinkable.
