    Travis; I own no GOOG but I am more likely to buy now than before. The vast majority of stockholders are disengaged from the running of the business in which they invest. That includes me. Unless the CEO or Directors do something outrageous & continue to generate $$$$ I am happy. There is an advantage in having well qualified, able directors being free to act without prior approval of someone who does not understand what needs to be done. Pretty much the same as politics where the passionate minority on each end fight to sway the huge middle that would rather be left alone as long as things seem to be tolerable.

    Something ridiculous happened in Germany regarding the split. According to some law I don’t get the new stocks were treated as dividend. This means stockholders have to pay taxes on them as if it were some kind of profit. And as taxes on stock profits are automatically cashed in by the banks, an amount of about 30% the new stocks worth were booked off the accounts of all google stockholders.
