This discussion is designed to run parallel with the Dr KSS’s article ’Another Hot Australian Biotech: Is Biotron Right for Your Portfolio?’ http://www.stockgumshoe.com/2014/04/microblog-another-hot-australian-biotech-is-biotron-right-for-your-portfolio/ and serves to provide a free general chat room. With luck it will stop the main thread becoming so cluttered with (while often v interesting), random/off topic/thank you posts. If the strategy doesn’t work/appeal, it can easily be ignored/ditched without affecting the main thread. GLA

Warner, I saw that no-one answered your question about only having an older version of MS Office, and being unable to access clomu’s calendar. I was in the same boat – Win 7, older s/w and no fancy pads, pods or other smart stuff. If you are still interested, here’s how I got it using free outlook.com from MS

1) copy the url that clomu provided at #667 on the NASH thread
2) search for outlook.com
3) open an account
4) click the down arrow to the right of outlook.com
5) select calendar-this opens a new calendar
6) click import
7) in the left column, click subscribe
8) where it asks for a url, paste the url that clomu created
9) give your calendar a name, I used FDA
10) click subscribe
viola! you should see entries for QRXPY, SYN and RNN

Anyone have a feeling about investing in AGIO. It had a 25% pop today after the report last week on phase 1 results that report total remission in few AML patients, some that are prior treatment failures. Great science. A highly targeted drug going after the basic way a tumor cell metabolizes sugar due to the presence of a mutation in the Krebs cycle, which is responsible for basic sugar metabolism. The drug is oral and theoretically may avoid many side effects present in other therapies.

These are early results with only a few pt.s reported. The side effects have been weird, and still need an explanation, so it is still very risky.

Alan, could you correct this – lay out how you want us to use the threads, and post once on all the threads so we can point new comers in the right direction? BTW, thank you for all you do here. I like the thought of getting folks to cough up the 49.00 bucks for Travis – we wouldn’t be here without him.
Bitron right for you Portfolio – Main thread for current and new stock discussion
Bitron Chat (this thread) – Thank you’s, lumpy willy’s, general chat etc..
NASH – idle but available for reference.
Eye’s and Ears – ??

Thanks Bradley.
First off, its NOT ‘what I want’. We are a democracy, so it can only be what WE agree we want. First, lets look at the problems (as I see them).
KSS is THE focus of most questions/replies……his workload/inbox must be exhausting and over time, it can only get worse. Add that to his day job/personal life needs/time to research/eat/sleep, and there’s a real danger his head will explode and he’ll sling in the towel (just my guess…..he may see it differently). Is that a risk we want to take?
Many people have complained that the old threads are too complex, chaotic and almost unreadable……using ctrlF has helped this, but CtrlF dont work across threads (Travis says he’s working on this prob…cant wait!). So if the chaos problem is to be addressed, there has to be some order. That’s what I’m attempting.
Moving the threads to the Irregs means no newbies will know they even exist !…..that wont help future new subscriptions….all those reading have already paid. GS needs new money or flashing adverts…yuk!
You may see other problems too. Sling them in the mix.

You refer to Eyes and Ears…….essentially I started that to address all the above probs. In fact it both semi failed, and achieved much, much more. We got a spreadsheet, we got designated Sleuths, we got an events diary, we got to know posters credentials….all thanks to willing volunteers (we love you guys). My hope is we can essentially get an Eyes and Ears chat room for each new thread as they are published, both drawing on and adding to the software that exists. Perhaps I should have named this one ‘Biotron’s Eyes and Ears’ and the next one ‘Whatever next, Eyes and Ears’. Hey Ho.
It may prove to be impossible to bring structure….we are all very different characters and people dont like to be scolded. Perhaps the majority like the exuberance and chaos. I dunno. But I thought it worth a bash.
So instead of wading thru a 2500 post thread, full of 999 ‘Kss, I love you’s ‘ and another 200 ‘Dear john, you should try my vet and vitamin x for that lumpy willy’ we could keep the main thread on topic and leave the banter to the chat room. Its probably only possible to do it by employing a full time editor, which we aint gonna do. So perhaps its a lost cause from day 1. Still offer up your wish list, lets bat it around and see what bubbles up. The only beauty of the Iregs (in this context) is that posters are regulars, so once the penny drops they should be able to realise which thread their comment belongs on, so where to post it. I have no doubt KSS will look in at eyes and ears and cherry pick anything interesting…..but my hope is he’ll post his comments on the main thread…..but somehow I doubt it. (Sorry KSS if youre reading this and dont approve…..but you are SOME workaholic….and we luv ya)

Hi Allan … nice to meet you…… if I may make a suggestion maybe it would be a good idea to setup a stockwatch list of all the key companies that we discuss and research here.. just the basic info and pros and cons .. maybe even put a rating system on them (ex , great, good, average, bad, stinker)… just a thought. Cheers

I just answered an Email on Biotron main thread from Kenny….it read like this:
OK Kenny…..perhaps thats the answer. Just have KSS’s article/s (with no ability for anyone to post there) and one GIANT thread (If Travis can allow) for ALL comments so that we can ctrlF anything specific that we are interested in. That would actually solve everything……..except the download time. A small price to pay for total search engine with no cracks.

Anyone wanna salute that flag?

Then went on to say:
I certainly wasn’t joking….it occurred to me ages ago but I kept seeing complaints about download time on Holy Grail so waived it away. But it really is THE solution. It provides a way to create your own focused sub thread from within the one giant thread …..bit like google searching the whole internet for references to lumpy willies….if only GS could produce 1.7 grillion results in a nano second !!….and nothing avoids the attention of the great search engines all seeing eye…. so no cracks to fall through.

However long, the download time is, it’s certainly less than manually hunting across 5 threads.
Perhaps we keep things exactly as is, and simply ask Travis to copy all comments from all KSS threads (plus others?), to one giant thread/database, so that, when specifically searching/researching, the download wait would be worth the wait.
Result mate !……will you ask or should I?

So watdja think guys. Would this ring your bell????????

Would this be in addition to all the other threads so discussions could go on as normal? In other words, there would be one huge thread, but the other threads would still exist for discussion?

Thats my plan….simply to get Travis to cc every post on a KSS thread, to the giant database (in fact it must already exist if GS is storing historic posts). Then you can ctrlF. The original threads will continue as is, in glorious technicolour chaos.
It will also work for other authors like Myrons mining or indeed you can ctrlF Alan and see ALL of by wonderful offerings if you need a sleeping tablet.
Lets hope Travis can do it. It sounds easy.

So I am assuming that Crtl. F does not work on a Mac.
Nothing happens. Any ideas anyone. Command may be

clomu, not sure what your criteria are for a calendar entry. Do any/all of the following upcoming FDA events belong on your calendar? Each has been mentioned if not analyzed on one of the KSS threads

Jul 27 PDUFA ACRX Zalviso
Jul 31 Ph 2 ICPT OCA
Sep 11 PDUFA GILD idelalisib

I couldn’t find a date for ICPT OCA Phase 2. Maybe you could post the link for this one? All I could find was “July 2014”:

I’m starting to get a headache from trying to figure out which thread is going to be which, how about subthreads?, and how many ways we can take advantage of Doc KSS’s admittedly amazing ability to multitask and satisfy all of our needs while having a life of his own out of the ether. How about ONE thread for serious science and financial suggestions and discussions on stocks and another for everything else–praise, love, jokes, lumpy willy queries, etc.? KSS has another meaning, after all, and sometimes simpler actually is better.
