written by reader Has anyone signed up for James Altucher newsletter – the 1,000% Backdoor

By wealthynow, July 18, 2016

I have a Stansberry Flex subscription and they periodically send a link to a video for another expensive newsletter.
This time they have James Altcucher – the 1000% Back door for $2,000 a year with a 30 day back guarantee. Basically it roots out new Silicone Valley start ups that the average person can get into without being an accredited investor (Net worth of 1 million with a salary of over $200,000 per year).
The special ends tonight, and I am not signing up for it but was wondering if anyone had and what you thought? Travis I would also like to know what you think.
Here is the video link to the sales pitch. Thanks for any opinions.

Is this guy for real. He has been around for a while but seems like whatever he does it doesn’t stay around long. Don’t know the answer but would like to hear from anyone that has had experience.

I paid for Altucher’s newsletter. When it stopped coming, I did not even notice. That should tell you something.

James sounds too good to be true. If, in fact, he is legitimate and successful in his investing approach, I would like to hear from someone who knows him personally. Likewise, if he is simply a fast talker.

I have not signed up for the 1000%, but I did sign up for the lifetime Top 1% and paid some $4000 for doing so. It has more than paid off for me. All of his recommendations for the past year or so have been winners except for maybe one which he told us upfront that it would be very risky. (I didn’t go in on that one.) His last one was for INVN at $137. I think it was over $170 the last time I looked. I’ve made a lot of money on his LXU recommendation and cashed out enough to more than pay for his lifetime fee. I still have 2500 shares that I paid $5 for and is somewhere between $11 – $12 now. It got over $14 at one time.

txdecman, thanks for the very insightful post on Altcuchur. Could you double-check the symbol INVN – it’s InvenSense, but only trades in the high 7’s.
Many thanks!

Thank you so much for sharing. By the way, have you received the teaser from Casey Reaseach, “The biggest Breakthrough I’ve ever seen” which references James Altucher about a $9 startup one can buy into currently?

Sorry……I should have looked it up instead of trying to rely on my memory these days. It was ILMN……it is over $172 now.

Travis, I just watched this guy’s video the other night. Like the rest, would love to know if his method can be decoded and replicated, or is it just snake oil?

From what I’ve seen, he talks up the opportunities in early-stage venture investing… but then generally recommends small stocks that are already public that are also plays on those “hot” sectors or trends. Doesn’t seem particularly magical to me, though he’s certainly an interesting guy. Haven’t looked at the details of his pitches recently.

I’m a subscriber. The service seems not to be open to new subscribers at the moment. Performance so far has been mixed, with a couple of big gainers, a couple of big losers and quite a few smaller gains and losses. The model portfolio isn’t available online for subscribers although I suspect it’s underperforming the market at the moment. The service has only been running since Q4 2015 so it’s perhaps a bit early to return a verdict on it. The idea is to take the best ideas from James’ contacts in the hedge fund industry; these are special situation shares that are considered mispriced, and situations like that can take a couple of years to play out.

James recently recommended a microcap oil stock (7 figure market cap when recommended) in which he mentioned he already had a position. The stock immediately tripled at the open after his recommendation and given the average daily volume in the stock, hardly anybody would have got in at anywhere remotely close to the price before the recommendation.

I’m a subscriber too. I want to short that microcap oil stock he recommended as an experiment, but I don’t know how. It’s hard-to-borrow for shorting and there are no options available. If anyone has any ideas let me know.

I bought Altucher’s Crypto course part of which was to be delivered on line and part by USPO. Haven’t received a thing. He billed through Agora Financial. Can’t reach either Agora or Altucher. No phone numbers anywhere. Had to cancel the credit card. Scam city here folks. Watch out.

Hi super skeptic, did you get the upsell offer for the lifetime membership called “The Crypto Glitch that Could help You Make 25 Times Your Money”?? I was skeptical about it so I didn’t jump on it thinking it was some BS about ICOs. If you got it, would you mind sharing what was so special about it?

Altucher’s crypto trader /choose yourself financial is a scam. His marketing is akin to circus carney. If you know nothing about crypto you would do better if you just googled it

I am a chess Grandmaster and ex-British Champion.

James assured me he wanted to take private lessons.

Hasn´t done so yet.

But I am emphatically NOT dissing him nor his newsletters!
Indeed he himself, when not as wealthy as he now is, gave chess lessons!

If I had a spare $10,030 I reckon I´d buy a Bitcoin too.

So, good luck to all of you guys and your Cryptocurrency investments!

And I´m happy to help Altucher with advice, too.

(On chess that is…)

James Altucher has the best financial advice in the world. He is always advising to quit your job. https://jamesaltucher.com/2017/03/quit-your-job-2017/ I mean, what other advice do you need?

Seems to me I am paying him to send me upsells. Purchased subscription to learn more about cryptocurrencies offered as bonus. 6 Video Course and E Book 101… There is an ad out there that you can gets these for free if you register… just give him a junk e mail.

Received all other self help E books and access to all articles he has written which include lots of self promotions. Charged me for 2 year subscription and e mail refund request ignored had to call but got prompt refund for half of charge.

The more expensive services start at 3k reduced to 2k and include cash back or free computer. No cash refunds. However if not satisfied he will extend the subscription for a year for free. Free rolls off this guys tongue like no other.

I admit I don’t know the whole picture on him but the structure of the offer makes me suspicious …if after a year I’m not happy how will 2 years make me feel better??? Don’t tell me it’s free!

He is associated with Agora Publishing and have seen similar offers from some of their publishers.

I unfortunately came into a decent amount of money and kept seeing his popup adds on the screen so I ended up buying into his great sales pitch. I later found out he was backed by Agora Financial LLC whom has several bad reviews and complaints. He has spent 2.7 million dollars to get your attention. I have the full lifetime subscription which was $ 4,500 at the time. I know, sucker right? Yes indeed his sales pitch is full of promises which he will never fulfill in his “Choose yourself” subscription. I read his emails and all the newest updates on the choose yourself website for a few months. I then purchased two stocks he recommended, which I hadn’t planned on since I thought it was crypto advice and both stocks have dropped more than 50%. As far as his recommended stock and Crypto portfolio You can watch any television money show and come up with the obvious top 5. They will also flood your inbox trying to promote other subscription like penny stocks with Timothy Sykes and many others. I think the company is a bunch if interns that can’t figure out any type of profitable crypto recommendations so they throw something out which is never profitable. James likes to be the center of attention, hence he is a real life comedian which he seems to dedicate more time to that than actually helping people with good financial advice. His emails are long and repeat the same thing over and over until you quit watching him. There has not been ONE thing he promises on the website once you purchase his sales pitch you cannot get your money back SO PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I stopped looking at the choose yourself website as should be called “James ALtucher has chosen himself and you just got ripped off website” I would be happy to find a way to give anyone access so they could really see how uninformed they really are

i canceled my subscription a few months in after sending them a nasty letter and received a full refund. yet my biggest joy was not having to read any of altucher’s incessant over the top emails or listen to his hysterics anymore! that in itself was worth far more than the $49 i recouped.

i bought in and found out that i had all 4 cryptos already. (BTC, ETH, LTC and the other one , forgot which) i have invested in some of the minor ones he suggested over the year, none are winners and they, like all tokens are doing poorly now. no refunds, but they extended another year. IMHO none of these expensive, premium non refundable “offers” are worth it. if you want to do cryptos go with the top 3 and be willing to wait. Agoura financial is the worst! they double charged me and it took 4 months to get it taken off.
