“Only Company that can reach 1.3 Trillion Barrels of Oil”

This teaser email has been rolling around for quite some time, I think — it at least triggered some memory bells, but I’ve never written about it and it’s still being actively promoted, so I thought it might be worth a gander.

And of course, it’s an oil services company … so there’s no mystery as to why the ad is circulating widely these days, anyone who can help get oil out of the ground has been printing money of late, so of course we’re all interested in learning about these companies.

Especially top secret ones. The ad is for Andrew Mickey’s Breakaway Investor, which we’ve certainly run across many times, and he’d like you to subscribe to Breakaway investor — in return, you’ll receive his special report, “”Uncovering the World’s 1.3 Trillion Barrels of Secret Oil.”

This teaser is for a company that helps in deepwater drilling, providing services to oil majors and other operators of offshore drilling platforms to help them produce oil.

“Greed, Fear, and Private Potash” from Andrew Mickey

Andrew Mickey runs Breakaway Investor and has a new service he’s selling now called Fear and Greed, and he must keep some solid copywriters on the speed dial because we’ve had any number of his teasers get our blood rushing over the past year.

This one’s for a “secret market”, which is a technique he and others have used before — we’ve seen it called the “Phipps Market” at least once, and it’s essentially just a number of different ways for individuals to invest in private equity-type opportunities (or in private equity managers and investment bankers, as we’ve seen with past recommendations of Blackstone et al. I own Blackstone units, for full disclosure).

So apparently, the famous families who have built their riches with private equity — sorry, I mean, in the “secret market” — can teach us a few secrets to make us wealthy beyond the dreams of Avarice …

“Putin’s Resource Roulette” — part II, nickel …

Well, time to finish up writing about that looooong teaser ad from Andrew Mickey’s Breakaway Investor that I started over the weekend. Yesterday we spent some time looking at his LNG play, which has very tenuous connections to Russia, but apparently these next few are all about our friends in the former Soviet empire.
