“Free Money — the Ultimate Recession Stock”

I mentioned yesterday that I would be spending a little time running through the teaser stocks in Ann Sosnowski’s latest teaser ad for her Safe Haven Investor newsletter … so without further ado, here we go!

This one is called the “Ultimate Recession Stock” in the ad, and whether or not you think we’re in a recession, or about to enter one, I think we can certainly agree that economic growth is at least fairly tepid at the moment … and it’s not going to change our lives much one way or the other when NBER tells us for sure whether it was a recession when they look back in a year or so.

And when a recession hits, the temptation is to shy away from most consumer-related stocks (since they’ll be broke), and focus on stocks of either consumer staples companies or companies that help consumers save money. So maybe Wal Mart more than Target, if we’re in a world where price sensitivity is everything.

“13F Disbursement Plans: Wall Street’s Free Money Factory” Ann Sosnowski

This one is from an old friend (in the sense of, “I’ve never met her, but I’ve had plenty of practice spelling her name) — and the one who still has the top position on the Stock Gumshoe tracking spreadsheet with her pick of Lynas for a different newsletter (though that spot is being challenged by both Eromanga Hydrocarbons and Mosaic at the moment).

Ann Sosnowski has edited a couple different newsletters for the folks at Taipan, including Diligent Investor and MicroCap HotSheet, but she has a newer one that’s called “Ann Sosnowski’s Safe Haven Investor” — and the ads have been flowing, strong and mighty like a river.

Today I’m working from a good ‘ol printed mailing — as a former practitioner of the dark arts of the direct mail business when I used to raise money for charities, I always enjoy a good ‘ol letter that I can hold in my hand. And plus, it somehow seems extra special since they spent significantly more money to get this ad to me than they would have via email … so maybe, deep down, it means they really, really care about me. "Secret IPO Registry"

Sometimes persistence is more valuable than success — at least, one could be forgiven for thinking that after watching the newsletter publishers at their game for a while. The latest ad I’ve been getting a lot of email about lately is for Ann Sosnowski’s Diligent Investor newsletter, and it’s almost identical to an ad that I wrote about nearly a year ago.
