Any of you folks follow Zion Oil and Gas (ZN)? A good friend told me about them. THey have two liicenses to drill in Israel. I got it at about $8 and a few weeks later it shot up by 87% in one day as reports of their rights issue was fully subscribed and they were able to raise $27M for more exploratory work. I was sitting on a nice 29% gain until the last week or so when it lost 50% of those gains.
My thinking is that if there are so much oil all around her, surely there must be oil underneath her (meaning Israel).

http://bogc.dnrc.state.mt.us/j…..o.htm This link may or not work. The Montana O & G search engine is a Java based site which is nothing like the North Dakota site. Good and bad on both sites. The Montana web site is cumbersome, yet stumbling through the vagaries of this site can reveal production of individual wells. Anyway, if one can trek through the labyrinthine Java-based complex you can find some basic information. Bottom line, (ROSE) will be doing science. That's a Greek for word for Knowledge. Stay tuned.

Gumshoe did a sleuth on ZN
http://www.stockgumshoe.com/20…..-east.html
I imagine the allegedly related Biblical prophesies alone will spark buying interest in the stock from time to time. I've heard TV preachers spew vague notions of end-time events and oil in Israel changing the whole global power structure and leading to all sorts of grand happenings that you can read about if you buy his book.
It won't be easy to actually make a profit producing oil in Israel. Security concerns alone would drive the costs way up.

No offense intended and am not trying to proselytize on this forum
You don't have to buy his book. It is all written in the greatest Book of them all. Just read the books of Ezekiel 38, Daniel 9, Matthew, and Revelation. Been interested in Biblical End-Times Prophecies since 1979 when I first read Hal Lindsey's The Late Great Planet Earth. How world events that are happening around us mirror those prophecies are simply mind-boggling and uncanny.

I won't attempt to question anyone's theology. My main point is that if you invest because something is trendy, because you like the CEO, because you like a radical new business model or technology, you can make a lot of money. You can also lose a lot of money fast.
At some point, investors in an oil stock are going to look at the geology, the expenses, the income, and the chart.

Any gamblers out there ?? Nitro petroleum has gotten permission from the Native American Indians to drill for oil/gas in the Powder Horn region of Montana. Development in this area has been slow because the Natives didn't want the land to be over run, but Nitro reached a deal and has applied for permits. NTRO 0.023 up slightly today, I'm buying..this is my disclaimer..DYODD Their 1st well will be drilled in an area where a previous major well was drilled.

Just looked at Scottrade, damn, NOG up almost 7% and BEXP up 11.89%, that Bakken Formation is one of the loves of my life. This is my second go around and these boys continue to make me money. Don't ya'll forget PPY.V, XTO, EOG, BQI, WLL and the others.

I've been trying to buy BEXP for awhile but it's running away from me. I'd like a nice pullback.
Darrell, I have a few questions about NTRO
Was the previous major well successful?
What happened?
Why were the rights sold?
Thanks!

Nitro stuck a deal with the Natives to drill on Reservation land. There is 1 well there n by another company and it was a success, now Nitro will be drilling in that area. Also, Nitro will begin a drilling program in Canadian with a partner and they have signed new leases in the region. I like the Areas and at 0.023/share, this could be a big gain for little investment, like 0.25 for PPY.v in 2007/8 and selling at $6.00/share 8 months later. Like I said, any gamblers on the site. Ya'll now I gambled om PPY.V, BEXP, NOG, DNDN, STEM, GERON, etc. and I like the risk verus reward potential on this. Please, Please…DYODD, because ya'll know I'm a dumd_ss in the investing game. Hey, no gaurantees, but I'm placing my bets.

"Economic outlook: Oil prices cloud recovery hopes"
This article got me thinking, which often leads to tragic consequences. What's wrong with the picture?
Well, rising oil prices will kill this delicate recovery which in turn will halt the rise of oil prices. Note who is issuing the warnings on rising oil. It's our buddies Goldman Sachs and Bank of America. The cynic in me says they are trying to sucker the small investors to invest in oil while they are busy shorting it.
Am I wrong?
The ideal situation would be slow growth, moderate inflation and rising interest rates. A painfully slow recovery without any crisis. The trick for investors will be to find the favored sectors at the right time.

ZN is in the oil service sector and that looks like a good sector going forward especially when energy heats up again. But the ZN chart doesn't look so hot technically, so here's my 3 picks……and I like all 3.
KEG, GLBL and HNR…….in that order. KEG and HNR are getting close to my buy range, while GLBL needs a pull back. HNR has some political risk, but hey, who lives in a free country anymore? Protect yourself against the risk of the downside; and when I jump on any of these I'll let you kmow.

Continental is sitting pretty, too. They think there is an entirely separate reservoir in the Three Forks formation, and their latest tests have confirmed.

Has anybody jupmed on the Rosetta Resources bandwagon? An upgrading of the stock (ROSE) is being made by several analysts (for what that's worth). They begin drilling in the Alberta Basin, the western portion of the Williston Basin in less than two weeks.

Since the low of March 9th at $3.55 ROSE has gone up nearly 3-fold. Of course, that bottom coincided with the general market meltdown but who knows what will occur with this new venture in Glacier County, Montana. Again, go to the Montana Oil & Gas website, wait for it to download (it takes time) and then click on Well Information, and then Well Activity. Go to the Dt Effect drop down menu and type the operator, Rosetta where it says "Begins with" and depending on your computer speed you will see the well name and associated data.

Thanks rbcn, the added info is welcomed and needed. The Montana site is terrible, slow, alkward, confusing and apparently outdated. A little disclaimer please…do you own: ROSE ?? Does the website show the 3-D readings report ??

rbcn, I finished my research and am not sold. There is no report of any 3-D readings listed anywhere and at their meeting a couple days ago, their info was incomplete in my mind. I love the area where they are planning on drilling, however, show me some updated info and it doesn't appear to be there. Just because other compamies have had success in the area, doesn't mean they will acheive their goal. I think the gamble would have been easier to make at the under $5 level. If they hit the wells, the stock will take off, maybe even double……DYODD. I will place my money on proven Bakken drillers and juniors where my money can double quicker or easier. They should hit in Montana and with their Texas and Cal properties, this is a decent investment in my Opinion, but I'm not buying . Hope it helps.

This project is speculative, of course, however, ROSE is doing the science on four wells to be drilled starting August 23rd. This includes extensive coring and analyzing the recovered data. After that it will decide on the horizontal part of these wells, that is, what direction to go and how far. I do not own ROSE stock. I will have more to say after I meet with the company geologist later this week.

Thanks for the info, but putting money into an experimant as apposed to buying in to a proven winner; BEXP, CLR, NOG, XTO or EOG for examp[le, makes little sense to me. I'll continue to hold on to these and maybe increase my position in them if I feel the need to increase my holdings in Gas and Oil. I'm rolling the dice on ,NTRO, for 0.02/share and if they do well, I'll more than triple my money, so spending over $11/share to maybe double is not as good a risk in my sense. DYODD…disclaimer…I own all I mentioned and more, but not ROSE.

Anyone familiar with BPZ? Peruvian oil stock. South American oil stocks are "sexy" right now. If this returns to its '08 high, it will be a 5-bagger.

I was interested in the US loaning 2 billion to PBR as I own, but during my research, I found out that reports about George Soros owning were true, but I was amazed to learn that George owns a couple million shares of; BEXP. just damn. From what I've learned, other than Hess and Conoco, these are the only US Bakken plays he owns. I still own BEXP…disclaimer.

I'm looking for information and can't find it….Why are we, bam bam admin. loaning PBR 2 bil for oil drilling to sell oil to China after China furnished money? Why don't we just allow American oil companies drill offshore for oil we know is there ? Could he possibly be making baby steps to open offshore drilling here ? It would help the Economy, spur the market and stop outflow to foriegn producers ….puzzling to me, unless ha just did it to help Soros, etc. Could this be an investment oppurtunity for us as was the signing of the stem cell bill ??? Thoughts from you smarter folks would be welcomed.

I don't think Obama funded oil production in Brazil because he wanted to open offshore drilling here.
The 'green' agenda depends on high-cost oil.
