What are your favourite 5 stocks right now for the longer term, ie one or two years?
Mine are: in no particular order:
CMTP
DNDN
GSS
PWRD
CLR
FYI I do own shares from all of the companies mentioned above

I'm also a fan of DNDN. I recently got out of PBR, but I'm wondering if that was the right decision for the long term. I probably should have stayed in.

……"right now"? Right now I'm not buying stock. The time for that has passed; and what anyone is presently "holding" is largely irrelevant.
Frankly, I'm selling in this market, accumulating some cash to selectively buy IF the market corrects (don't hold your breath).
For example, I SOLD my GSS calls within the last week. I still HOLD the stock, but I sure wouldn't be buying it here.
Listen, if there isn't a healthy tinge of fear in your heart about what's going on in the markets when you're buying something, you're probably not buying at the right time. When everyone else (prompted by the fools in the media) is saying that it's probably "OK" to be buying stock again, you'd better think twice.
……..hope I confused everyone because it may save you some money.

I have no favorite stocks right now.
I own XBI, PBE and IBB because they have not run up with the market.
My thinking is what are favorite short stocks right now.

These days my heart drops every single time I press that trade button. And yet, I keep doing it anyway.
Precious metals still looks good to me and so I'm holding SLW with an exit price of $20.
Natural gas seems like a no-brainer unless you buy options like I did and have to worry about worthless expiration. There are some questions about UNG – the share price exceeds NAV by too much for some.
Solar is an area I like and for traders, YGE has large daily swings on no news. Catch it right a couple of times and there's a new car in your driveway before long.
Finally, I got clobbered on General Growth Properties a few months ago before they declared bankruptcy. Rather than being smart and holding on, I took a big loss and a buttkicking from my accountant/financial advisor.
But it's back. Now trading on the pink sheets as GGWPQ, it's been flying lately. Despite the problems with commercial real estate, they manage five malls within driving distance of my house ranging from your run-of-the-mill mall to extremely high end and all seem to be doing well — low vacancy and high traffic. I waited a bit too long and got back in at $4. In 2007 this stock traded in the mid 60's. It won't get back there any time soon but it still looks like it can make a nice run.

That's quite fabuloment. I speak it too. BTW, for future reference {assuming you're using a Windows PC} if you hold down the alt key and press 0233, you'll not only be able to speak French but you'll be able to correctly spell touché.

1. Make sure Num Lock is on (so the numeric keypad at the right of the keyboard produces numbers instead of cursor movements). The number keys at the top of the keyboard won't work for this.
2. Hold down the Alt key with your left hand.
3. Using the numeric keypad, tap in 0233 (the numeric representation of é) and then release the Alt key. You should get the é character at the position of the cursor.

ahhh great….we have such nonsense in the Western Canada….with "French" (signs / voice messaging etc etc)….and trying to AVOID it…..and now we've got a bunch of Americans all hungry to practise it. Indeed the world has gone nuts.

So it doesn't have anything to do with spelling. It's a computer gimmick.

I'm still a believer in international bond funds. And yep MERKX is still the one I'm in even tho Tony Sagami (yikes) likes it too. Here is his rationale' from today's uncommonwisomdaily eletter. http://www.uncommonwisdomdaily…..ves-4-6816

Darrell:
I came across this article from the US Geological Society (USGS) and thought you might be interested:
http://www.usgs.gov/newsroom/a…..ID=1911%3E
Bottom line, there are billions and billions of barrels of light sweet in the Bakken platform. Which are the companies drilling in the Bakken?

Wiil, thank you, I have read this before. Go with the companies you are comfortable with owning. I hold every stock you mentioned and more up there. KOG is currently drilling and have just hit oil with more wells being drilled, so have you found out something that I have missed ?? WLL, XTO and KOG are drilling at this time according to my last findings.

Do you still feel the same way? You are right! It could have saved me some money had I been confused by you. Right around the time you posted the above, there was a 5~10% correction.

Hi Will,
These days, if VXO tells me to buy, I buy. Otherwise, i watch and take profits. I think we're due for a REAL correction, but who knows?
Cashed in some SWC calls today.
