I don’t know anything about this particular stock, but I really like the sector. There are confluent breakthroughs in broadband communication, portable computing devices, and the software that drives everything.

Not every company will be a winner though.

asafp, have you looked at Skyworks Solutions (SWKS)?

I'm curious about your assessment of the technology and fundamentals.

No, I haven’t looked at this. I just glanced at it now and there are several big positives on the political front. It’s based in Massachusetts which gives it a competitive advantage for anything related to the government.

Furthermore, it’s involved in all or most of today’s trendy industries including smart energy, medical, RFID, Wimax, and military technology. Any one of these could give this stock a boost from an investment advisory service pump.

The company seems to be involved mostly in the basic electronic components and doesn’t have any “gee whiz” products. Still, nearly everything they are involved in is part of a growth industry.

The chart doesn’t look that great, but I would think that geographic diversification and a vast product line would limit the downside unless the whole market goes to hell in a handbasket again.

Scrazy, I picked up a few shares of SWKS. It’s worked out well. Up 6% today with earnings to be released after close. I guess something leaked out, huh? Up another 3% after hours on strong earnings and outlook.

This is one of those rare times that I didn’t get hammered holding onto a stock through earnings.

I'm glad you have a profit on Skyworks, asafp…

I've known about this company for more than a year and still haven't bought it.   I should have…no guts, no glory!  Laugh

Up 6% at this point today. Decided to take the money and run. I’ll be keeping an eye on this to repurchase. SWKS could be a relatively unknown winner in market driven technology advances as well as hare brained government energy schemes.
