From PennyStockWinners:
This 77-cent jeans stock is for trading. Sell it to someone else at $1.20 within 24 – 48 hours.
Now, don’t go supposing that a 77-cent stock that’s strictly for trading is a garbage company.
Indeed, this company is so in-the-right-place-at-the-right-time, it is uncanny. Over the next 5 years, it is a splendid $20 – $25 stock, too.
…
Like many stocks in this category, the price of this 77-cent jeans stock will explode on earnings news.
Tomorrow, at 4:30 p.m., this jeans company will announce earnings. That’s the FIRST surprise: earnings announcements were pushed up by 2 weeks—a very bullish sign.
The SECOND surprise: the newearnings announcement date is on the anniversary of last year’s announcement that the company had TRIPLED previous earnings. Not only did they blow through estimates, but the stock leapt from $1.18 to $1.61, a 36% jump in 5 days!
Could it happen again?
Not only could it happen again but with a back-to-school pent-up demand this year, this jeans company is likely to add HIGHER GUIDANCE to blow-out earnings.
I took a wild guess and checked Joe's Jeans…
It looks like a good guess…JOEZ is 0.83, up 0.04…close enough to 0.77 for me and the conference call is 4:30 pm tomorrow:
Q2 2009 Joe's Jeans Inc. Earnings Conference Call (Live) 07/15/09 at 4:30 p.m. ET
What do you think?

yah…wish this post was in April when the stock was 30 cents , huh?
Gee…things look skinny here…not much in the way of sales….they only have 2 retail stores…and a mere handful of wholesale outlets. They have done some housing cleaning by dumping all their other product lines. A couple fo their guys (CEO + CFO) are still around after the changes at Innovo Group. Got a nice hit from some of the celebs who are wearing their product. Other than that, all I could see is that their headquarters is in "Commerce California". WAIT !! Can we put "commerce" and "California"…two words so close together ???
Can't see any fiscal reasoning or backbone……seems that it might be "creative writing" and hype…..both attributes that CAN drive a stock "up", huh??

Joe's Jeans Enters Into License Agreement for Children's Products 07/09/2009
This pre-earnings release should be considered a positive omen in my opinion. But, what the hell do I know?

I think you're being cynical, TV Guy….
BTW, Joe's Jeans doesn't need retail stores. Macy's carries the line. (You can sell a lot of jeans at Macy's.)
asafp, I agree…the license agreement might be a good omen. I don't know whether JOEZ can diversify beyond jeans…Guess did, so it's possible.
The question is, will JOEZ pop on earnings, giving us a quick profit? Or will JOEZ sell on the news. In a more 'normal' market (if there is such a thing), we might be able to profit from a pop, but if GS couldn't do it, why should we expect JOEZ to?
Thanks for your comments. I'll probably pass on this one. I like the jeans, but that doesn't mean I should buy the stock.

Thanks, TV Guy and Weatherman.
JOEZ went up to fast for me. I didn't buy at 0.83 and lost out.
We may have seen the move up. The tease was effective…either people subscribed to the service or found it themselves as I did (lucky guess since I'm familiar with the brand…).

I am not going to touch anything related to retail with a 10 foot pole.
Predictions are that there will be no Back to School season to speak of – Target is not having one for example – just new fall clothes.
And predictions are the Christmas season will be off at least 10% – after last years drop this is the biggest two year retail Christmas season loss ever should this happen.

I picked up a few shares of JOEZ yesterday. Excellent sleuthing Scrazy!
What sold me was the pre-earnings announcement I discussed above. There was some guy selling a service that focused on pre-earnings announcements and of course, claimed huge gains from the strategery.
It's on the old forum somewhere.
I'm gonna take the money and run before they actually announce the earnings.

I'm glad you did.
I was too slow (AGAIN) and watched from the sidelines as JOEZ continued to rise. I'm afraid it's too late to get in now.

It's like we've reentered 2007 and early 2008 where there were a lot of bullish stock picks to sleuth. It's been gold and inverse funds from the "gurus" up until a few weeks ago. At least judging from my mailbox.

Stock Crazy…..your Denim Stock will have made you 20% since you last posted it !! Good call. But risky it was….don't worry about it….it was a coin flip instead of a solid decision. Ahhh…don't worry…..20% is peanuts in this Big Game.

20% here, 20% there…pretty soon you're talking REAL money, TV Guy.
I hate missing out on JOEZ after I sleuthed it…oh well.
At least asafp is making some money!

Disappointing earnings for Joe's Jeans…
– Net income of $1,325,000 translating into earnings per share of $0.02 on a fully diluted basis.
– Gross margins of 51 percent for the second quarter of fiscal 2009 compared to 47 percent for the second quarter of fiscal 2008.
– Second quarter net sales of $17,179,000, a 4 percent decrease over the prior year comparative period.
I hope you got out with a profit, asafp!

In fast, out fast. Wham, bam, thank you, ma'am. Only way to do these things. After seeing those earnings, I might think twice about gambling this way next time.
I pity the poor bastards who subscribed to PennyStockWinners and bought at todays market open over $1.00.

Because they 'pump' it up and 'dump' their shares at the inflated price!

TVGuy, I was thinking about the plumber. He promptly arrives when called and snakes out the drain quickly. After the lady of the house pays him, he says "thank you".
Get your mind out of the gutter.

asafp……choice of your words for "pump and dump" (post #19)…..snake,….and drain.,….
