Stansberry's been quietly teasing this one for a week now:

"That's why we've recommended our two favorite microcap Iraqi oil stocks in Phase 1 Investor. One of these companies has a near monopoly for drilling oil wells in Iraq… And it's about to be very busy. This company is partners with the Iraqi government. When the oil majors enter the country, this company will be drilling almost all of the new wells. Today, we can buy it for 84% below its fair value.

The other company owns parts of eight oil fields in Iraq, two of which are in production. Preliminary results suggest this company's largest field will produce more than 2 billion barrels. We expect this stock to double in the next 18 months based on its production capability. But with the massive amount of money flowing into Iraq, it's more likely a Big Oil company will simply buy our recommendation for many multiples its current value… It's already happened with our Oil Report recommendation, Addax."

Some possibilities:

Heritage Oil Corp (HOC.TO)
Vast Exploration (VST.V)
Trico Marine Services (TRMA)
Western Zagros (WZR.V)

Any other guesses?

Trico Marine Services?Confused

TRMA provides marine support vessels to the offshore oil and gas industry.   I didn't realize Irag was involved in offshore operations.

Possibly relevant: http://www.mesopotamiapetroleu……02.09.pdf

This company (http://www.mesopotamiapetroleum.com/) was founded by Ramco Energy Plc (RMNRF on pinksheets) and Midmar Energy Ltd. (no ticker found).

From the Mesopotamia Petroleum announcement:

MPC is pleased to confirm that it has appointed London-based investment bank, JPMorgan Cazenove, as it's financial advisor and placement agent in connection with a major equity fundraising to support MPC's contribution to the joint venture's drilling operations.

Methinks an IPO is on the way.Wink

Thanks, dist!

Iraq does have some shoreline, which is why I included Trico. They came up in my Google searches. I also saw Mesopotamia, as well as Hunt Oil, which is a Bush family oil company in Dallas. Both have contracts in Iraq but are private companies.

This one was harder that I thought it would be. Whatever these two companies are, they are under the radar. Heritage oil is most likely one of them, but I could not match up any facts with the tease.

Another possibility, BMB Munai (KAZ).

I bought Heritage awhile back and they hit oil, I haven't seen the tease because my email has changed and it wasn't by choice, att, lied to me then canceled my email and I lost everything.  PS. I don't like this now, too diffucult for an old fool like me. I hope this posts, damn I miss the old forum, you know: KISS, for dummies like me.

Darrell, good to have you back. I tried emailing you but as you said, your email was returned. New forum is not a easy as the last one, but it's still very good. I think you'll get used to it.

Thanks for the feedback on Heritage, I'll give it a more thorough look. The one reason I am skeptical about my choices is that none of them have moved up in price at all. You would think a chosen stock would jump on the recommendation. I know their last pick PZG did. So I am still unsure.

Re Heritage (HGOCF), can a $9 stock be considered "microcap"?

Microcap refers to market cap, not share price…Smile

Thanks for the nudge. ;-) So, $2.6 billion…can this be considered "micro"?

Sorry, folks, I'm noy saying that Heritage Oil was the pick; please read my post. Iraq's oil doings are in a state of turmoil right now. I haven't seen or heard about the pumps !!! Heritage hit oil in Kuristanian Iraq and signed a deal to include all of Iraq, not just the Kurds and are using the Iraq pipelines to help move the oil to market.  I'm trying to get a handle on this new forum and ain't doing so well, so my posts will be alot fewer.
