CRISIS OPPORTUNITY SPECULATOR-Options only

This comes from the Weiss Group, Mike Larson and Bob (forgot last name).
I have subscribed to this service since 8/1/08. It has done a fantastic job.
They rec options both calls and puts, with good analysis of why this company and why now, as well as good general overview of the economy, plus access to their free newsletters.
I have made well over 12k since Aug just trading 2-3 option contracts per call. Just closed another one for a 2k profit (3 contracts).

They advise an entry price as well as recommend when to exit. They have had a few losers but the gainers far outnumber them.

Note, I dont always follow their exit strategy, I usually close out winners sooner than they recommend at a predetermined gain amount and sometimes I close out losers sooner then they suggest. I dont track the rec after I close it out so cant say if I am doing better than the service is, but I suspect I am doing slightly better than they are.

They dont do a lot of recs, sometimes you might get 3-4 in a week or two, sometimes nothing for weeks at a time. They also send out emails updating you on the rec’s status and their view of the economy and markets.

Overall I am very happy with the service. I have subscribed to some of their other services and cancelled within the trial period and received a very prompt refund no questions asked.
I would highly rec this service.

Oh, its not cheap, $2300 for a year, I believe its a 60 day trial but not positive.

I looked up the performance record of this service on the Weiss website: http://www.martinweiss.com/publications/performancehistory.asp

If I did not make any mistake calculating in 2008 they had 30 losing and 22 winning picks, adding up to 1824% losses against 1619% gains.

Admitted: the performance was at ist best in September / October 2008. Before that it was really disappointing. After that it seems to get less successful again.

The price seems to be $5000 / yr, not really cheap.

Positive anyway: they seem to publish gains and losses honestly.

I subscribed for 1 month from December 2008 through January 2009. I really enjoyed the service and the precise entry and exit instructions. However, though there were some winners, there were more losers and I was down over $4,000 in one month after following the instructions precisely. I couldn’t sustain those kinds of losses and cancelled the service. I received a prompt refund.

I like Mike Larson’s analysis, but I tried this service for 3 months in the winter 09. Good thing I didn’t plunge right in. What little I did buy lost money especially double contra ETF’s. I got out and they refunded my money promptly.

This guy is not a straight shooter. He always hedges EVERYTHING he says and then says, “See I told you I was right.” To make matters worse, he deleted all his comments on his blogs proving that he was wrong about calling the housing bottom 8 months ago. Most of the guys at Weiss are of similar nature. The whole operation tries to hide the facts. I would definitely stay away from almost the entire group…unless you are interested in macro economics. That is the only thing that is interesting. But as an investment adviser, I would recommend staying away just because of their misleading business practices.
