The Peter Dag Portfolio. Subscriber for several months. Good to excellent market and economic perspective and analysis. Very disciplined and consistent approach. Currently taking advantage of strong dividends and price stability in MLP’s, corporate bonds, and some other positions. I am too new to comment on market timing, though Hulbert gives excellent ratings. Only potential grips: 1. Recommendations and positions do not have price targets or stops, advice limited to buy or sell. 2. No mid week update should timing model indicate a change in direction.
George Dagnino has the best, most concise description of the economy and its dynamics that I have read. This is summarized in his 2001 book, “Profiting In Bull or Bear Markets .” The newsletter follows his book and gives a concise summary of the changes and relationships in the economy, including leading, current, and lagging indicators. His newsletter is published about every 2 weeks, with market updates in the other weeks. Unlike other newsletter writers who seem to want to be novelists, George cuts to the chase, boils it down, and gives the best broadest yet concise summary of the economy. His portfolio picks have been very good and he is honored with top stock timer numerous times, based on his assessment of the economy. George is not a stock trader chasing fast profits, he wants performance that consistently beats the market, yet has minimal drawdowns and risk. I have been a happy subscriber for over 15 years.
