Bernie Schaeffers sends out some interesting free information, but also offers a variety of vary expensive recommendation services for options investing. In my experience these are worthless and offer a very quick road to the poorhouse. I’ve had some good experiences with options, but almost never with Schaeffer’s recommendations. They sometimes offer a bogus “guarantee” that you will receive at least 100 money doubling recommendations. They have so many recommendations that, even if true, this offers no consolation. And, of course, there is no way to hold them to that “guarantee.” Save your money!
This is one of the best values out there. Daily market and economic commentary is good, but it is the stock picks that really are great. Schaffer is great at picking stocks and any good option player should make a nice return off his or her money with the stocks. This is not a day-trader’s service, but it is useful to day-traders. Each day there are several stock picks and one pick of the day. There are many that you will hear and a few days later every talking head on TV is jumping on the stock. Some real gems.
Schaeffer appears to be a specialist on options. When he’s on, he’s on. However I’ve had more misses than gains with his suggestions. But, when I tweaked his suggestions even a little, I tended to make out better. His portfolio is not much to brag about. It’s what you would expect from a knowledgeable investor. Most of the positions are old, and no new ones come out regularly so you really don’t know where you stand as a new investor. His crew is definitely very knowledgeable and helpful, but they are better at analysis after the fact than advice before the fact. Having said that, 3 out of 5 times they have been pretty good at figuring out what the daily trades will do. The one big downside, is that you’ll probably pay a lot more than you will make, due to the stiff fees unless you’re into some heavy risk taking and catch it just right.
I’ve subscribed to several of Schaeffers options newsletters, and I have lost far more than I ever made. I would never recommend this company to anyone.
This is one of the best stocks pick ever that I experienced winning after winning since I started subscribe with them in December 2012. Schaeffer is great at picking stocks and any good day traders should make a nice return off their money with the stocks. This is excellent for a day-trader’s service. The most important thing from your part is: YOU NEED TO LEARN CANDLESTICKS CHART before playing stocks with real money- Candlesticks chart will show you when it’s time to jump in to buy stocks recommended by Schaeffer. Schaeffer send to your inbox daily with stocks recommended by his team. And you will decide when to buy. Sometimes you have to wait up to 4 days later to jump in buying the stocks. Why? After learning candlesticks chart you will know why. Don’t take my word – If you still subscribe with Schaeffer’s Daily Bulletin – Try to log back in his website again and look at past recommendation and you will see 99% of his stocks picks went up within 2 weeks from the day he sent email to your inbox. He just send the good stocks and you decide when to jump in grace of candlesticks chart. Remember, Schaeffer doesn’t tell you when to buy stocks with his service, but 99% sure the stocks will go up within 10 days later. I foolishly subscribed to one of the option services. Fortunately, I paper traded in my account. Following all of his recommendations to the letter… over a year the account is in the hole. I am not a stranger to options, but many of his picks seem to be totally random without any analysis. Many lose money only one or two days after their recommendation. I would not normally post this recommendation…. but they refuse to prorate and refund my subscription. No, I am not a stranger to options, but with work hours I thought I would try out a option service and then analyze their picks. So, if you want to learn what not to select and if you want to consistently post losing option trades, sign up with one of Schaeffer’s services.
November 25 2017. as an example they sent me a call recommendation….. Five days later then a warning to close it quickly since it was dropping like a rock.,… With the market going through the roof they are unable to select simple call options. Their performance over this super bull market has been horrible. I disagree with the comment that if someone could read candle sticks Schaeffer’s picks would be all winners. When you pay for a service THEY should be reading the candle sticks. They brag about their expertise of being able to read the market for over 35 yrs. NO, I was not stupid enough to open their trade. Since 80% of their past picks have be horrible losers. I went through the trouble of posting this opinion since they will not even refund 10% of their fees for this option service. Although I believe the FED will continue to artificially prop up the market, if we ever have a genuine “free market” stock market, this service will be even worse since they are unable to even reach a 50% success rate when trillions have been injected into the market via corporate buy backs.

Avoid: SCHAEFFER’S INVESTMENT SERVICES
their website offers option recommendations and subscriptions at various levels and has their percent wins!
However these results are cumulative with many many losses.
I joined and found 3 of 4 options were a loss and the cost was usually upwards of $500 per contract.
They use high pressure sales calls to get you to buy other services at a discount for a trial and a refund of unused months…
As for their “guarantee and refund of unused months”…. you go thru’ loops and wait 20 days for it to be credited back.
They are quick to take your payment but slow to give it back.
Losses are greater than gains, i did better picking options myself!
Their daily bulletin on possible option picks looks good – but be careful, if you use it you are likely to have losses that wipe out gains, their opinion on direction are just that and do not work out for option trades with expiring dates (maybe for stocks, i did not look at that).
Pricy useless service, but it forced me to get learning myself when i saw how bad it was.
WARNING!!! Scammers … customer service sucks … recommendations lose money at a 80% rate … no refund policy … amazing they are still in business ….
I am still within 90 days so I may be eligible for a refund?

having trouble with schaeffers. anyone have any suggestions on how to get refunded?
if within 90 days you should be able to. I am trying right now but my Account Executive won’t return my calls. He knows why I am calling.
I started about six weeks ago and far these alerts have not been good. About half are losers if you have an automatic stop loss set to 50 or 60% to protect yourself. Otherwise many of these options will reach -90%. About half of alerts have been ok, no big winners though. I am quitting and trying to get a refund right now. My Account Executive won’t return my calls and he knows why I am calling. If beyond 90 days they won’t refund.
There are better options services out there. Schaeffer’s has not been a good place for options trades. Lots of losers this year.
