A Little Wiggling in Big Wireless

By Travis Johnson, Stock Gumshoe, November 17, 2011

Just a quick personal portfolio note: I’ve sold close to half of my Verizon (VZ) position and swapped it into a new Vodafone (VOD) position, so I now hold both partners in Verizon Wireless. I’m unwilling to sell out of Verizon entirely at the moment, due to its utility-like cash flow from wireline assets and Fios and its steady dividend, but I think Vodafone’s global footprint and higher dividend and better expected growth will help the shares perform a bit better than VZ in the next few years.

A good sum-up of the argument for Vodafone is here, from Barron’s last weekend, though similar arguments have been made by investing pundits for at least a year. I also hold some long-dated LEAP options on Vodafone.
