Looks interesting. Zacks, however, issued a Strong Sell on it, 12Mar.

I looked up a P&F chart on it — seems to have gone nowhere for around 10 years. Since a high around 19 in’06 it has trended down but went bullish in October last year, getting to 14 but then reversed down to 12. Could be OK if it can penetrate a resistance at 14.5 – 15, but I would rather wait to see if it does that. My chart shows no reason for a “strong sell.”

I’m putting this in my monitor section. I like boring dividend payers. Especially if they grow that dividend over time and consistently pay.

  4. Bad news today on AVX, possible heavier liability from an old site that is a Superfund cleanup project here in Massachusetts (Benton Harbor).

Don’t know what this means in detail, nor does the company as of yet, but it very likely means a fiscal drag — EPA estimates “present value” of future cleanup costs might be in the $400 million range, so take that into account with this one if you’re considering it. The news came out after the market closed on Friday (you can see the basics here: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/epa-issues-administrative-order-avx-203102623.html), so we may know more when the market opens or hear more over the weekend — but very likely the stock will take a hit as a result, the extent of any hit remains to be seen. They’ve got plenty of cash, but if they have to dedicate half of it to cleanup efforts that will take away some of my enthusiasm for the shares. Will share my additional thoughts next week if there’s some more information.
