Wall Street Daily checks legit?

A reader asks:
Do you know about the legitimacy of the Wall Street Daily[1] and the checks they are sending out for $527 if you join the organization?
They say the ck is with no strings attached even if the account is cancelled, which ours is, and here’s why…
We agreed to get a book for $49.95 but a debit from WSD[2] appeared on our credit card account for $4995.00! We immediately called them and after a few days the nearly $5000.00 charge was removed. Now they say the $527 is still ours to use however we wish, even though we have completely cancelled the book and our account. Too good to be true, comes to mind, but we asked them for an email reiterating the check is still ours free and clear. That is what the email they returned says, but we are still wary about cashing the check.
We would like your thoughts on the organization and this check for $527 we received–send it back or safe to cash???

There’s no illegality with you cashing the check. Just remember that even if your bank credits your account the $527, its not yours till the check clears their bank. Which I would be ASSTOUNDED if it did.
I’d suggest you read the fine print….
Some of you are still behind the curve here about these gimmicks.
1st- The cash is your DISCOUNT for buying a letter.
2nd- The check you receive is actually already yours. Once your credit card is billed the “X amount” then they send you a check for your “discount”. No easy money here. Your simply overbilled (billed at cost- no discount) then receive a check for the discount. I’d imagine checks won’t go out until c.c. clears.
Nothing is ever free, except maybe cookies.
