Alan – We open here a forum for discussing options. It might be helpful to open the discussion with a copy of the paragraphs that I wrote 4/24 about options. I don’t know how to cut-and-paste that material.
Before I opened this discussion forum, I noticed a question about choosing a stock that might perform well as an option. I’ve already briefly addressed the subject…and would appreciate knowing about the thinking of others.
I have years of experience, but could not pass myself off as an ”expert.” I prefer that this discussion forum be a gathering of investors with an interest in options…with all of those with greater experience contributing things that they have learned. Our goal is to benefit one another.

Selling premiums is bit tricky, two thing you really need. They are, really high liquidity in underlying, (more than just 100 options traded, we need few hundred thousands preferably hundreds of thousands or millions), to be traded), in order to get spread down to nickles less than 0.10 per contract, anywhere between 1 penny, like SPY, and 10 c).) It is much easier to get in and out. That is the main reason to be active investor, if you want to be.
Keep in mind that some option strategies, (if not most of them,) you do need to take winner of the table much sooner, before gamma risk hits.
Derivatives can be one of the best financial instruments how every investor can heads and keep their gamma risk in check.
Pleas, don’t listen anybody else, just look your portfolio and try to beta weight it on S&P, and please, keep some short delta. If you do, you wont be disappointed in a long term.
Keep up and hope for the best.
