written by reader What happened to the newsletter ratings/rankings?

Apologies if this has been discussed, but I can’t find anything about it using the search box. I’ve noticed recently that the newsletter reviews no longer show any ratings. And while there still is a ”By rankings” link, it seems to just lead to a page listing recent articles. While I’ve always realized the ratings were not in any way a scientifically valid assessment of newsletters, they were useful to look at – both in terms of the average rating and whether or not the typical rating changed over time – when I was considering subscribing to a newsletter.

Are newsletter ratings gone for good (in which case, I’d assume the ”By Ranking” link should disappear) or is the absence temporary (or hoped to be temporary)?

  1. It was intentional but hopefully temporary — we’re working on a fix, and we have not lost the old data with the rankings and ratings. The short answer is that we were relying on some old code for displaying those ratings, and that code was destroying the rest of the site — we hope to have a new solution on hand for something similar soon.

How does TheStreet, Quant Ratings stack up against the others? Just was on their site in ref. to Doug Kass’s picking banking stocks and backing off on Twitter.
