Travis-
I so much appreciate and enjoy you and the exceptional irregular-shoes here.
I have several thoughts/ideas I’d like share:
Have you ever considered:
1. A ”Beyond the decimal” (sub penny) and/or pre- and after-market discussion area(s)?
2. An investor tools link area i.e. finvis, barchart, bloomberg, otcmarkets, zacks etc, not only for links but to expose novice investors, like myself, to best (free) resources available for research, charts, screening etc.
3. Daily archive area
4. High Yield income equities including internationals area
5- A link to categories similiar to the ones below
Best always-
Ben

Hi Ben,
Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. Any Irregulars are welcome to start a new discussion topic at any time, though the discussions that “stick” and generate a lot of back and forth usually have a pretty dedicated person driven to keeping the conversation going. They don’t take off on their own.
The sub-penny stuff scares me, because all of those stocks are completely manipulated junk. Feel free to discuss it if you like, but I don’t personally want to give those picks any extra airing (except to point out pump and dump campaigns when people ask about them).
The tools area is a great idea. We’re thinking about how to clean up and organize the site a bit better, that would be a good place to add some info. I often forget that many of our readers are very, very new to investing.
Archives we have, but not sure what a daily archive is.
And the categories are linked under “strategies and sectors” in the green bar above, though part of that system (the ranking of the newsletters by subscriber rating) isn’t working at the moment.
Thanks again. We love to get suggestions on how we can improve — we might not be able to implement them all, but suggestions always help.
Thank you for your quick reply and for all you do.
I did not mean to say sub penny but sub dollar (beyond the decimal);
Companies like ASX-LNG LNGLF, Stellar SBOTF, IBIO etc. that offer 100’s and even 1000’s of percentage gains in relatively short periods of time
A pre-and post market area so other irregulars can quickly pick up on equities that are moving because of recent news/earnings, before the have kicked in the turbo.
The daily archieve area I envision I suppose would be a blog type area that can be quickly scanned to see find what irregulars are focusing on (like “RECENT DISCUSSION”) but combined. For instance I wanted to alert irregulars of APT ,PSID, IBIO and others this week but did not know which Microblog to post.
I am sure there are great international equities that offer surpurb dividends and growth that can be traded in the U.S. (ADRs) but I do not know where to find information on said equities.
The tools area I would greatly appreciate and maybe the easiest, most expeditious to implement .
What to do during and after a correction? The only way I know to address this issue (with out using options) is to use the Bear 3X ETF’s during.
I know you have been asked repeatedly, but I would greatly appreciate specific investments for after a correction.
Best to all-
Ben
Hi Ben I am interested in being alerted to trades such as APT and adrs or sub level “penny” stocks also although there is a risk and they seem to trade slowly at times ,I am on stock twits which has been interesting and would welcome a direct message correspondence with you if you would like so we could share our newbie experiences , I did made a bit on APT but would have done better had I known earlier about it LAKE also did very well thanks Paula
Paula-I considered and appreciate the stock twits invitation but respectfully decline as I do not believe that there is a better group of investors to help us/help each other than the fine folks here aka the Irregulars. I agree with Travis that most if not all subpennies are junk but there ‘s money to be made or lost regardless of share price. I have spent way too much money on subscriptions and newsletters this year and am thrilled that I joined the Irregulars. The only other subscriptions that I am pleased with are Money MegaTrends $39 and zacks premium (ultimate if you can catch their free ($1) promo trial or free for 6 months if you signup for their online brokerage and deposit 10k.)
You may also enjoy a great read, in my opinion, https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B7gRH-_EJLbZX3RZbEswYU5Nc0E/edit?pli=1 MGI_Disruptive_technologies_Full_report_May2013.pdf
I also follow Small Caps Network http://www.smallcapnetwork.com/ free daiy newsletter.
I shall be more proactive in the future to alert of equities I see moving.
Have an awesome weekend.
Best-Ben
Hi Ben thanks for your reply I too trust and agree with Travis ‘s opinion stock twits is more of a direct contact forum and free as of course paying for newsletters can be expensive . I just need to take more time I guess to search for your alerts in the forum all the best Paula
Could VSR be another LAKE, APT, IBIO?
I am using the TVIX be careful

Vaguely remember that Cleveland was working on the list of company with high cash ratio. I’ve been on and off with the threads due to travel, not sure if he ever published the list. If he did, my apology for the duplicate. Here is the list of healthcare sector with cash/price ratio > 0.55. Most are biotech with negative cash flow.

$AMDA: Thanks, very interesting information, analog68. I guess the obvious question is, if your intention is to hold for no more than 3 months, what are you expecting to happen in that time todrive the share price up? Or is that information that you’re hoping the gumshoe hive mind can help determine.
Excellent work, great contribution, btw.

Silicon nitride (Si3N4) based ceramics are gaining more and more attention due to their promising high-temperature thermal and mechanical properties. They have been expected to be the main candidates for applications such as turbocharger rotors and gas turbine engine components which can withstand severe conditions of temperature and heavy loads, excellent properties at high temperatures. Silicon nitride possesses a bunch/variety of interesting properties that can be specifically designed to produce a given behavior profile.

Analog68, I have previously set up a discussion thread here that we may use as a WhiteBoard. http://www.stockgumshoe.com/2014/10/microblog-wow-you-guyz-and-galz-are-incredible/ Please, if you are interested, subscribe to the thread. I’ll start working on $AMDA and posting there. I do not know if the tread is “locked down” for Irregualrs ONLY or if you and the paid-Gummune want it to be. Your choice is my favorite. 🙂 Best-Ben
Thanks Ben. I will continue to search this. I have no need to enter right now. I am going to try and learn more about competitors as well as determine some factors that are less tangible. Ie. how much chatter is out there on the mess. boards. Upcoming catalysts, basic TA and a possible entry point.

No comments in a while on this thread but I just came across it and I think the subject is quite interesting. My focus is on the PLACEBO EFFECT, which is recognized so explicitly by the conventional authorities that it is measured and accounted for in every trial, with greatly varying results. Think about that…it is measured in every trial !
It means that the mind has the power to cure, but there is no understanding about how this comes to be. That is, how the conscious and unconscious mind able to actually bring about physiological and pathological changes in the body ? What is the mechanism of action ?
On the one hand I think the question is one of great importance. But on the other hand, I have doubt that we can ever truly know the answer. I think therein is a the mystery of a third realm that joins matter and energy…that of consciousness…all three together a part of reality, and impacting each other. Our thoughts and consciousness are not separate from the real world, they are part of it. This is demonstrated by the placebo effect, which cannot be dismissed by the rationalist because they recognize it and allow for it in every scientific clinical test.

The BEST commentary by Travis in many moons:
Travis Johnson, Stock Gumshoe Today 9:50 am
I’m not telling you to “hang in there” or do anything else, of course, but it sounds like you have a lot of anxiety about the world and the markets. My only suggestion for folks who find those kinds of feelings overwhelming is to be careful about diversifying away from yourself a bit — don’t let your feelings about politics or the state of the world, whatever they are, determine the entirety of your investment strategy.
Things looked bleak and terrible to a great many people in 2009, and many of them sold everything — and therefore missed the huge gains their portfolio would have had over the last seven years, almost regardless of where that money was invested (bonds, stocks, gold, real estate — all are higher now than they were then).
Prepare for the worst things that you fear, sure, but also prepare for the possibility that you’re wrong, and that the next 30 years might be similar to the last 30 years with war, bloodshed, unrest, dispute, debate… and also longer life expectancies, less war and bloodshed than the previous generation faced, and a growing global economy that has lifted billions of people out of starvation and poverty and enriched millions.
I’m an optimist at heart, as you can probably tell. But I diversify away from myself, too, by preparing for emergencies or economic catastrophe with things like gold, cash, and the like… and I think about how certain investments might help hedge my portfolio if I’m wrong. I just don’t let that “insurance” or “hedge” stuff become the principal part of my investing strategy. http://www.stockgumshoe.com/2016/09/september-idea-of-the-month-what-about-deflation/comment-page-1/#comment-4900355

HendrixNuzzles on investing (especially in biotechnology: If you want to make an investment in biotech but are unsure which stocks to buy, my suggestion is that you consider an index like IBB, or put a toe in the water on some reliable big caps like PFE or BMY, until you can develop your own point of view about the clinical stage companies that are discussed here.
Opinions are not recommendations. Neither Doc nor any other contributor “recommends” stocks.
We discuss all the aspects of these companies and state our opinions and our positions. But this is not investment advice, and we do not present our opinions and positions as investment advice.
Our opinions and positions are just that…opinions and positions. Not advice. Not recommendations.
It is important to have conviction in your picks, to believe in them and have some idea of what the companies are trying to do, and to have an understanding of the time frames involved. Otherwise the volatility will blow your nerve and blow you out; or you will lose patience.
Most of the stocks discussed in this thread are really risky. There are many things that can go wrong them. Stocks which were very highly regarded have crashed and burned. And often the successful ones take a long time to pay off.
The followers of this thread are people who trust the opinions and viewpoints of Dr. Kss, first and foremost about the complex science and medicine.
I feel without this insight we would have zero chance in this sector. But it is still very risky, even with a knowledgeable expert like Doc explaining things to us.
In my opinion, you do not need to go anywhere else for biotech ideas. Doc and the Gummunity are not selling you anything, Doc knows more than the people making newsletter pitches by a factor of ten, he has positive ideas on more stocks than you could ever buy, and you will get a lot of pros and cons from the Gummunity that can help you make your own decisions. Take your time. Pick a few and read about them and watch them.
If you take your time and still have trouble deciding,
there is nothing wrong with sitting on the cash you were going allocate to biotech, or putting it into a biotech index fund.
