Steve McDonald has been writing about bonds and income investments for quite a while for different letters — this one has a few subscriber reviews from when it launched, but I’ve never written about it.
My recommendation based on personal experience: DO NOT subscribe to the Oxford Bond Advantage. I have been purchasing Steve McDonald’s recommendations over the last few years in a highly diversified portfolio i.e. 2-4 bonds per company that HE RECOMMENDED. His recommendations of Alpha Natural, Arch Coal, Walter Energy, Peabody Energy, Key Energy, Noranda Aluminum have ALL FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY. Another of his recommendations, Petroquest has stopped paying interest and will, no doubt, be filing for bankruptcy. Another bond he recommended, Erickson that his subscribers paid $1000 or a bit less for, he then recommended as a sale for around $460. Literally any income i am receiving from ALL THE OTHER BONDS STEVE RECOMMENDED is more then offset by the huge losses of these bankrupt bonds. If you subscribe to the Oxford Bond Advantage, keep plenty of antacids around.
