dogs of the dow or s&p 500 index

By dogman9156, December 13, 2014

Perhaps this has been discussed and if so could you direct me to where. I’m a fairly new member and not a very savy investor but I found the article on the dogs of the dow quite compelling. Has there been any comparison on the merits or lack there of between dogs of the dow or an S&P 500 index fund as a more preferable investing option. When I do a search the results I see look rather biased one way or the other. A more objective review would be preferred. Thanks
