More tough times for Mongolia, the courts continue to be worrisome for non-citizens (ie, outside investors and workers who came in looking to take part in the Mongolian “boom”), the economic situation is somewhat desperate and they’re asking for help, and even the population has failed to grow (now about the size of Arkansas)… and the new leader of the government just had a “vote by text” informal referendum about whether to push ahead with Oyu Tolgoi expansion or go with an austerity plan… and only 56% of those texting him reportedly voted for development over austerity. That has to be a new record, people NEVER vote for austerity.

    But they did find a 200-year-old mummy that some buddhists say is “still alive.” So that’s kind of cool. Even if it was the same body they found 12 years ago, and had just been stolen to put it on the black market.
