I hope it works out for you. I call these “Hotel California Stocks” because they are easy to buy but so hard to sell … “you can check in any time you like …”
Indeed, not for the trader at all — though honestly, Fosun is not all that hard to trade in HK, volume has picked up quite a bit. On the pink sheets, though, it often doesn’t even trade on any given day.
I find IBKR a great way to buy in most overseas markets. A great way to simply buy in HK$, for instance.
Me too, I used Interactive Brokers to buy the Hong Kong shares I picked up overnight, and I love their easy access to international markets. Takes some getting used to for folks who are accustomed to Fidelity, Etrade, etc., but they are cheap and offer a wonderful service.
Travis,
I am currently with Merrill Edge. I have an IRA and recently asked them to provide me with a money market fund which was 100% U.S. treasuries, versus part commercial paper, BAs, repos, etc. They were not able to provide this “ideal” money market fund for me. So, I am interested in moving the account to a firm that can offer a 100% U. S. treasury money market fund, a firm that is stable and provides a “robust” online trading system. Also, I am concerned about Bank of America as a going concern in this “next financial crisis” we are about to experience. I read in your comments that Interactive Brokers is a firm you have used. Who, in your opinion, would be a good broker-dealer to move my IRA to? Many thanks, bellboy.
Fidelity claims to go it one better. They promise to automatically deposit your spare funds up to $245,000 each in up to 5 banks so that you are fully protected by FDIC insurance! Also, I have found them to be very responsive with good tools.
