First, thank you all. I read the strings everyday. Never posted. Financially secure and not easily sold. Is this how it works regarding EARS or other promo sells ? Consider me naive. Companies really take promo $ and push a stock. Then claim our firm never takes a cent. That wicked ? And thank you Travis and team. You enlighten me daily.
Big newsletters touting small stocks often move the price considerably, though not always. But no, the big, legitimate newsletters don’t take money to cover stocks — if undisclosed, that’s a major issue for the SEC and none of the large publishers would risk multimillion dollar businesses for something that short-sighted.
I posed the ‘thread’ Heard Anything on EARS? I wasn’t looking for “I told you so(s)” but rather if there was any corporate announced disappointments. Travis, even in your fair handed comments posted on Dec24th, you don’t discredit the company instead you leave it in our hands to discuss. Please enlighten me…were there any announcements? I subscribe to Money Map Press (not the $5000/yr one) and received the “tout” but was eager to see if the stock gumshoe would identify the company. Since your one paragraph on the 24th, i began monitored the stock and admittedly got a foot wet when i saw the activity and positive stock movement. Now i’m back in the dark. Shed any light?
I don’t think there has been any actual news. I haven’t analyzed their financials and I know nothing about their product’s status in development, but they have had no filings or press releases of note, nor have they presented at any conferences. I suspect that the ad campaign from Money Map had a lot to do with it, folks are often surprised at what a huge impact a large newsletter list can have on a small stock (this is a $150 million company, roughly, extremely small). That attention drives up the stock, and then that movement in the stock brings in momentum investors who like it because it’s going up, and that drives it up further, and you end up with a stock that wasn’t getting a lot of attention but is now quite volatile because there are a lot of new, relatively uncommitted investors in the name who are excited about the large percentage changes each day and prone to overreact to every chart movement.
That’s true of many such small teased stocks, though, not a specific reaction to EARS. To me it looks like the next bit of big news coming is data from their lead drug candidate for tinnitus, and they say the data won’t come out until the second quarter… so unless they release dribs and drabs along the way, everything until that point is chatter and guessing for the sake of guessing — it might move the stock one way or another, since any small blip in sentiment moves a stock of this size, but it can’t really be predicted.
Thanks Travis for commenting so quickly. Not that I haven’t been tempted into buying some of these teasers, but had i bitten to the tune of $4-5K to learn the name of say EARS, what now after any of these services reveal the teased stock and it drops from where i buy in at $7.80 to $5.20? I could just imagine the phone calls the teasers receive. How is that worth it to them? Anyway, I’m glad I stumbled on to your Stock Gumshoe site, 5000 thank yous.
Eight months later. Something is going on with EARS. They are due a Phase 3 by 8/31. Today is has jumped 15%. Can’t find any news or leaks. But someone knows or thinks they know something. I’m in this big so I hope it is good test results. They do have an FDA fast track.
The promo ended, after over a 100% move.
