Informational Material or Resources for New Traders

Hello:

I am new to trading and stock markets. I have researched stocks I’m interested in buying and I am eyeing stocks that will be good long term investments (i.e. safe investments like big Pharma). I am also interested in short term gain, and hope to get in on some of this facebook action going on. Buying stock is a gamble for me though, because I dont understand half the terms that finance articles and stock companies use or what half the numbers mean. I know I’m ig’nant on this stuff, but I do see the value in commodities that will only increase with time. My online nerd games that used real time trading markets for resources did teach me something! The market experienced inflation, insider trading, etc.

I was wondering, do you have any good material or resources for new traders? I want to be more confident in my investments and feel more comfortable behind the reins of my online trading account.
