“It’s official. I either have access to too much information, too much time on my hands, or a combination of both. The good news is, my information-overload and my willingness to do lots of tedious work (that nobody else is willing to do) leaves you on the receiving end of some really good information…”.Sharing with my brothers and sisters: http://www.smallcapnetwork.com/The-Best-Industries-to-Own-for-the-Next-Two-Months-Probably/s/article/view/p/mid/7/id/2027/

We are at a time when we are seeing the failure of so called unicorns to maintain that status. So not sure if valuations of the portfolio holdings of this VC will be favorable. Can that be a factor here? VC cycle is trending down.
It is, and that’s a big part of the reason, I expect, why its trading at a discount. If you expect the big private companies to be less valuable over the next two years, GSV is probably not terribly appealing… But I don’t think it’s likely that their portfolio is overvalued by 100 percent at current valuations, if the valuation of their total portfolio drops by 50 percent this year the NAV would still be above today’s share price.
Travis: Great info/analysis. Thank you.
P.S. I think you’re now stuck with me as an irregular. 🙂

What is your interpretation Travis re: the financial report that came out yesterday?
Still looking it over, will share some thoughts on it in today’s article.
Moe at GSVC has gotta have one of the worst investment records of all time, with the possible exception of Landis at SVVC.
This together with ridiculous fees, the discount is completely warranted IMO, can’t believe I got sucked into these because of the discount.

GSVC looks like a good purchase ATM. I recently bought 100 shares @ $6.00 and so far have no regrets. Thanks Travis. 🙂
So, three months later, $4.80. Any comments?
Close to getting stopped out, there certainly hasn’t been much IPO enthusiasm … Only real news so far has been DocuSign’s difficulty finding a CEO. I’ll hold until it stops out if that’s the way it goes, but there’s no real change at the company yet — it’s all about animal spirits coming back to the venture capital market and that doesn’t look so likely this week…. We’ll see.
I bought some after researching it a bit. IMO, an eventual Palantir IPO is the biggest foreseeable catalyst. It may not happen for a while, but could double the stock when it does. Thus, holding for a year or two would still turn out fine on an annualized return basis. My investments are generally conservative stock holdings, so this is just a way to gain exposure to a portfolio of speculative picks.
