I know there are hundreds of newsletters out there and I wanted to know if anyone has been able to track and sort them to the 5-10 best out there from this major list?
Thanks

Mark Hulbert used to do this in a newsletter that evaluated investment newsletters. One of the best performers was the Motley Fool’s Stock Advisor. That newsletter does have some very good ideas (and its teasers are often discussed here), but it has the drawback of not discussing valuation, and they almost never discuss when to sell. They assume you have many years to wait for growth to catch up with whatever the current share price is. When they do recommend a new stock, the price sometimes bumps up as a result.

It’s not hard to catch clues on what stocks the Motley Fool recommends, since they have lots of free articles, and at the end of each one is a mention of which stocks they hold and which ones they recommend.

They recommend a lot of very well-known stocks – Nike, Under Armour, Disney, nVidia, Activision, Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Priceline, Gilead… (Not sure if they recommended Tesla, but at least one of their newsletters did.) They often recommended them before they increased by 3 billion times (slight exaggeration) and made their investors into trillionaires.

For a reasonably conservative investor both Investment Quality Trends and Investech provide a long track record of success. IQT is for individual stock pickers emphasizing dividend paying value stocks. Investech uses sector ETFs and market treands emphasizing safety. It has beaten the S&P many years, but like all newsletters, not all years.
These are letters for the patient investor, not someone who is looking for hot growth stocks.
