Financing! The Bane of new technology. This will probably be the only path to success in batteries for the near future, until these sights are proven to actually work.
This is what Siemens is doing with AES, acting as the bank for projects thru their Fluence partnership, (private company) They did this because they realized banks weren’t going to lend money for an idea.

ON another note, how’s that leg of yours, Cowboy? Ready to Do-si-do at the Cantina?

Interesting concept and well worth the trial.
I foresee a lot more use of micro grid use in the future. No time estimate, but think of the cost savings alone to utilities by not having to buy right of ways and run that power line to “off the grid” locations.

I must also add, that I hope that it has a long uninterrupted life and trial in an affordable housing project. Not trying to be mean, but……….

Nice to change name to reflect vertical integration from mining to sales, but I’m not sure how far away they are from any actual mining. Even Trans World Airlines was named before it traveled around the globe, so I’m impressed with their thinking.

I would really be interested in knowing about how long it would take to get the mine up and running, and see if there is any infrastructure in place or available. Try as I might I could not find any information regarding actual mining times.

I placed a very small bid today, because of it’s current abilities to produce and sell their current battery’s from the known sources they just bought. I will follow and track those sales. The actual mine and vanadium are currently bonus points for when and if they actually start production, in my thinking. And like Cowboy says, nice having an actual mine located here in the good ol’ USofA.

I asked about a timeline for VRB to start operations, and got this info back from the company:

Thank you for the inquiry. A preliminary economic assessment will be announced soon and should provide most of the answers you are looking for with the Lac Dore Resource. The other exciting development is our 2018 commercial demonstration objective for the green processing technology. I have included our latest corporate presentation as well as info on two of our partners, feel free to reach out with any further questions. My direct contact details are below.

This article was in todays PV mag unfortunately this company is private. Silicon carbide is used in EVs and PV systems to switch power in/out and between devices It is in short supply for these applications. It also requires a certain expertise to grow the crystals that are cut for these devices.

#asking a question
I haven’t flown for twenty years. I am asking this seemingly bizarre question to youz guyz, instead of the Travis ask any dumb question link, cause we are into this one basic group. (always glad to hear from you too Travis!)

My question is, when flying, can you definitely see reflections from solar panels on rooftops? I am trying to imagine whole cities, or a great majority of them having to use solar as part of new home builds due to new upcoming regulations.
A. What kind of reflection would that cause to air traffic, especially on approach?
B. All of that reflective solar heat, (sunshine) would most likely cause a huge
amount of heated air, increasing the temperature. If so, do we blame Global
warming?
I think of this trying to see what kind of unintended consequences would develop by going green via solar panels. I find it interesting that solar panels lose efficiency because of the heat buildup within the frame, yet there they are, sealed black panels trying to make some electricity at a very low successful percentage.
At least Telsa has non reflective roof shingles/solar panels.

Just wondering. Any thoughts?

Interesting questions that I don’t have an answer for but,,, I hav en’t seen anything saying there was a problem solar panel reflections. Heat I imaging that panels are going to get simply because of the dark color in the sun. What heat is generated should accounted for in the build of the panel. There is a specification for Commercial, and Industrial grade electronics. The rated temperature for Industrial grade, might also call it Military grade (IIRC) is 125 degrees Centigrade. most of the panel installations that I’ve seen are mounted to the roof so are using the slope of the roof. The slope will vary per latitude from 5-45 degrees. Telsa also makes roof tiles they are not quite as efficient as panels but account for low slopes. I would mthink that the information might be on one of the MFg web sites such as Tesla or Natcore Technical http://www.natcoresolar.com/solar/solar-overview/

Hope that helps.

Reflection would affect aircraft no more than flying over water,,, essentially no affect.
To absorb heat from radiation a gas must be what is known as a greenhouse gas and most of the air is not GH. Water vapor is the main one, and at most is about 1% & will absorb 98% of infrared light until it is saturated and can hold no more. The next is CO2 .04% of atmosphere and will absorb 8% of infrared until saturated and can hold no more. Negligible compared to water vapor.
Air is mainly heated by conduction ( not radiation) or contact with a warm surface or other warm gas. Solar panels would be insignificant in heating air compared to normal roof.

Hi all. Been pretty focussed on You Know What recently, but I have a few remarks on batteries and battery materials.

A while back I opined that materials in Li-NCM would be the main focus in the near and medium term; that vanadium redox would make headway in market share; and that zinc-air would also be worthy of interest.

I have no change of outlook, and most of what I have seen confirms.

In passing, I saw in North Carolina that Duke Energy recently approved a zinc-air installation in a fairly remote location in western North Carolina, and that a big project in New York City using zinc-air was approved recently…I forget by whom. Anyway it is commercially viable at the moment and seems to be gaining

The main new target for me is vanadium. As an investor, I am pretty focussed on the companies associated with Robert Friedland at the moment; but I am looking for other vanadium plays also.

I think there are some structural problems in the vanadium sector
which I will flesh out shortly.

Open to suggestion.

I hope for your sake you don’t see .29 again, but I am looking for moving some funds around to acquire more as time goes on.
Trying to focus on at least two up and comers in our basic categories, and find one actively mining and selling.
I am done looking into further Lithium companies, since so many companies are now close to ‘filtering out’ from waste and I’m covered.
