Could this be venture capital exerciseing options on large blocks that they hold from earlier rounds?

He is referring to block trades executed off traditional exchanges. Large blocks are crossed by institutions and hedge funds at any hour of the day. They are executed in “Dark Pools” and you can monitor them yourself. It takes some work but it can be done. You don’t need a fancy computer that they talk about, that’s just their hype. I have been watching these block trades for 3 or 4 months now. They show up on Fidelity Active Trader Pro in the times & sales box. They come up as a trade with DF after it. Also, Charles Schwab has a block trader indicator that you can set up to scan for them. The tricky part is to figure out if it’s a “Smart money” buy or a sell, because there is always a buyer and a seller to consummate a trade.

Augie Excellent observation and the key to getting it right – is the massive block trade a buy or sell. Did you have any clues or suggestion on how to tell from your following this on Fidelity?
    Thanks, heme
