A Microcap Teaser Solution In Advance !!
(Australian stock exchange CLQ, OTC pinks CTEQF).
CleanTeQ is sure to be the answer to future teasers you will be reading about from resource gurus, To save you all the trouble of solving them, I decided to write this article.
My portfolio was grotesquely overweight in gold and silver positions, and in moments of anxiety I thought it would be a good idea to diversify and take a few positions in something other than gold mines, royalty companies, Mongolian exploration companies, and small-cap copper miners with major operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Thus I made a small speculation in CleanTeQ, solely on the basis that mining titan Robert Friedland was the Chairman, and CleanTeQ was the only resource company I could find that seemed to be in a position to mine scandium, a very rare metal that sells for a couple of thousand dollars a kilo.
My due diligence was so slight that I was embarrassed to emphasize my position to the readers at Stock Gumshoe. We are supposed to study these things a little more than I did for CleanTeQ. And after entering at 50 cents, the stock promptly dropped to 35 cents or so, making me glad that I did not look foolish by publicizing my position.
As the weeks went by, I started to find more information on the company that I should have found out beforehand. This was partly accidental, partly from other Gumshoe readers, and partly from new announcements and company news that occurred after I took a position. But the findings were all very positive, and because the company is so interesting I thought it warranted its own thread apart from the hard asset thread which I moderate.
I have a full long position and high hopes. And I thank Secretsquirrel, Griffin, Larry McKenna, and several others who helped fill in the missing pieces of the puzzle.
Below are my findings, opinions, and summary on CleanTeQ Holdings:
BUSINESS MODEL CleanTeQ is a hybrid company based with three bases: scandium mining and production, cobalt mining and production, and water purification. This seems like an odd combination, but as you will see, it is not. It is a stroke of genius. And I will explain why we should care about scandium and cobalt.
(1) The company is starting production of the Syerston mine, the world’s only scandium mine;
(2) The company will also produce significant amounts of cobalt as a co-product to the scandium;
(3) The company has a large-scale water purification technology, which will target municipalities,
Industrial operations with waste water problems, and mines, which also have water problems
PROSPECTS FOR THE THREE SEGMENTS
(1) Scandium is a very rare metal that usually occurs in only small amounts that are not economical to mine. It is mostly available as a by-product and the market is opaque, usually between private parties. Scandium has very beneficial applications in aerospace, aviation, and technology, but has not been widely applied because there is not a sufficiently reliable supply of it.
(2) Cobalt is essential in many batteries. Lithium gets all the investment press, but a majority of the battery formulations need cobalt, which is rare compared to lithium. Cobalt has a similar supply situation as scandium, it is mostly a by-product and is not commonly a prime mining target in and of itself. But demand for the electric energy market is growing rapidly and cobalt demand is growing and will continue to grow accordingly. Supply chains on cobalt are iffy.
(3) Water purification is a pressing need throughout the world. Cities with lots of people, industrialized places with lots of factories, or mines with waste water, all have a real and pressing need for large scale water purification. I think most people can accept this premise of widespread demand without a lot of documentation.
HOW DO THESE SEGMENTS RELATE TO EACH OTHER ? I cannot get too technical about the water purification technology, but I will try to explain what I understand, and how it relates to the scandium and cobalt operations. They call it Continuous Flow Ionization. Ionization is not a proprietary technology per se, but CleanTeQ has developed a way to implement ionization in a continuous feed, automated loop that improves volume, improves economics, is reasonably priced for installation, and can be custom-modified to specific waste problems. It can be used in conjunction with other filtration techniques. Further, it can be modified TO EXTRACT CERTAIN SUBSTANCES from the feed waste water. This is done by modifying the resins that are used in the ionization process.
Now it so happens that CleanTeQ has developed resins that can extract scandium and cobalt from waste water. So they potentially will have commercial sources of rare metals from the by-product waste of their water purification process !
HOW CLOSE IS THE WATER THING TO REALLY HAPPENING ? It is happening. CleanTeQ has signed a memorandum of understanding with a major Chinese municipality to implement their technology. There is a joint venture, 55% Chinese/45% CleanTeQ. Once the first one is up and working, China has a mind-boggling potential for water purification. For their teeming urban centers and for their mining and industrial locations, shall we say the potential is very large ?
CleanTeQ has 100% of rest of the world. CleanTeQ is closed-mouthed about other commercial sources, but they let on that they have been in contact with the likes of GE, Dow, and other big hitters. They state a pipeline target of $100 million by 2020; I predict they will do much better.
HOW CLOSE IS THE COBALT THING TO REALLY HAPPENING ? Very close. Battery useage is soaring and is the strategic target of many governments, corporations, and environmental groups. Batteries need cobalt.
HOW CLOSE IS THE SCANDIUM THING FROM HAPPENING ? This will take a while because the applications are high tech, with long lead times, and there is only one scandium mine in the world (CleanTeQ’s newly commissioned Syerston mine). CleanTeQ intends to develop the scandium market by being a reliable source of supply, and by driving the price down.
CleanTeQ will have viable margins with scandium prices up to half of current prices.
To give you an idea, the Russians made a few MIGs with scandium/aluminum alloys. They were faster, lighter, stronger. An addition of 0.5% scandium to aviation aluminum strengthens the frame, removes the need for riveting, reduces weight, and makes repairs easier. . The Russians dropped it because of costs; and Boeing and Airbus will not use it without a reliable source of supply. But there is about to be a reliable source of supply: CleanTeQ.
WHAT ABOUT IP PROTECTION ? I believe the IP and know-how moat is sufficient. CleanTeQ holds a perpetual license from a high-level Russian research organization that provided some of the foundation technology. I am not a patent lawyer and a lot of the know-how will be proprietary, not patented. CleanTeQ has been at this for over ten years, I think the barriers to entry are sufficient.
MANAGEMENT Totally a plus. Robert Friedland is the Co-Chairman and CEO, he has 20% of the company, great credibility and clout with the Chinese, and an unbelievable track record in mining. Sam Reggall is the other co-chairman. I know little about him, other than from my observations of him on an Australian investment show that aired last week. He was impressive.
MONEY AND FINANCES I don’t think there is anything at all to worry about. Friedland must be worth billions, the Chinese are in, and the concept has enormous potential.
Sources: as I mentioned, information is scant. My sources were the CleanTeQ website, presentations and and interviews with Friedland and Reggall, and the sketchy information on the brokerage sites. Nothing you cannot find on your own.

Sorry not to post the link, but when surfing around I saw a youtube presentation under the rubric “Why Invest In ?” with Clean Teq Holdings as the target.
The presentation was a nicely put together formulaic graphic presentation of publicly available information on fundamental financial information. Of course on the conventional metrics, Clean Teq looked awful because they have huge expenses and hardly any income.
But what was interesting was that the presenters classed the company under the “Utilities” sector, and said that the prime business of the company was water purification ! This is a very interesting development and shows how, little by little, the company is gaining exposure.
It is also illustrative of how the company is not going to be well understood by most analysts and investors. Clean Teq will look bad on conventional metrics for a while. But eventually they will have multi-year contracts on the books and income that the traditional analysts can understand.
How the market values them will be interesting, one group will be comparing them to miners; another group to water and environmental companies; and the metal speculators will look at them another way.

Click on link saw it had 188 views. Not going waste time looking at it for 2 minutes. From what you had written above they are total BS. I like to see all sides but hell this has Scam all over it.
For our type of stocks, the site is worthless data presented nicely.
hi rubberworm. can you clarify? who/what is total bs? who/what has scam all over it? thanks in advance.
CLQ has very high costs. That is true. They have bank funding coming, cash in hand, pension fund is holdinging tons of shares. For a company that has not even finished it’s FS this is flying for good reason.
rwilldo…if I may intercede, I interpreted rubberworm’s comments as a disparagement of the “Why Invest In ?”
website.
Rubberworm admitted he did not look at it closely.
I do not think it is a scam, it is just a robotic assembly of financial metrics that are publicly available and formatted in an attractive manner.
My opinion is that for certain stocks like mining speculations it is nearly worthless. They will have some good data items…like it is interesting to see
Cleanteq’s cash position, annual losses, and ultra-high quick ratio.
But obviously, financials are not the reason one would want to have a position in Cleanteq.
It might serve as a screener for more conventional companies, but there is no objective evaluation of anything but public data. The only judgment they make is a rating that is based on that data, classed by an unknown algorhythm.
Ok you made me watch half of the BS by a robot. The scam comes in for one to click on a link. Goggle is loaded with this BS regarding stocks now. I get 4 t0 5 calls a day on my home phone from robots. If one gets there DD from a robot what can I say. Good luck with that. If that was true we all be rich.
What I’ve seen is these types of sites are a form of targeted advertising. If you are clicking and reading on a stock report, they know a lot about you already. It is a cheap trick to put enough of the right eyes on an ad they can sell to someone who sees sophisticated investors as their target customer. In this case, it looks more like someone trying to build a youtube channel. Welcome to flea market called the internet.
after getting pounded by the rocks at nickel mountain, bs & scam are the last thing i want to read about (especially on the clq thread). thanks for taking the time! -best to all

Toyal-AP Works collaboration…IMO bottom line is it is bullish for scandium.
Great find, rubberworm.
I never heard of Toyal until your post; AP Works is the R&D arm of Airbus, they made the cool motorcycle you can see on the Clean Teq and Platina websites.
Checking their website it appears that Toyal is an aluminum specialist that is focussed on developing applications. They will find more applications for scan/alu alloys. This means that the R&D for scandium applications is getting big-time attention.
It also means that AP Works sees a lot of potential to develop the market for their scandium alloy powder in the 3D printing sector. AP Works has decided that they are going to supply scan/al alloys for 3D printing, and have trademarked their particular formula (Scalmalloy). Since AP Works is a subsidiary of Airbus, Airbus remains the odds-on favorite for the first major publicly announced scan/alu alloy application in aviation or aerospace.
I hedge my language because it would not surprise to find out that there are military and defense applications preceding public announcements on applications for new commercial jumbo jets.
Neither Toyal or AP Works are in the scandium extraction or mining business, as far as I can tell. They are customers for, or are developing uses and customers, for scandium-aluminum alloys. Very strong bullish development for scandiium producers.
**
The speed at which scandium-aluminum alloys will be adopted has been the subject of debate on this thread. The Toyal-AP Works collaboration shows it is happening, perhaps faster than one might have imagined.
$CLQ (long)
While I do not claim to be an expert chartist, the pattern depicted in the linked CLQ chart certainly appears to present a classic “cup and handle” pattern during the period March 10, 2017 through November 30, 2017 (Oz is one day ahead of us).
https://hotcopper.com.au/attachments/clq-png.856100/
Check out https://www.investors.com/how-to-invest/investors-corner/the-basics-how-to-analyze-a-stocks-cup-with-handle/
for a good discussion of a cup and handle chart pattern characteristics that include high handle location; base depth; pattern at least 6 weeks long; handle stretches (preferrably with an initial downward slant ) for at least 5 trading sessions; (projected) breakout point above 10-week moving average; (unfolding) breakout volume at least 40% above its 50-day average. The above-referenced site is associated with the iconic IBD (Investors Business Daily) – William O’Neil’s brainchild.
Constructive feedback and comments appreciated – especially those articulated by more experienced chartists. I am most interested in any assessments regarding the base depth characteristic as presented in this CLQ chart pattern.
If this turns out to be a solid cup-and-handle chart presentation, it would not be unreasonable to anticipate a major breakout (and perhaps a new high SP) in the next 10-15 days.
My experience with charts is not rigorous, but I made a bullish call a few days ago based on the overall tenor of the chart and volume action, and I opined that we would see $2 by year-end.
To me it looked like there was a period of consolidation after the last big move up that was ending in a bullish symmetrical continuation pennant. I also noticed a cup-and-handle, but have not measured amplitude.
With CleanTeq the charts are going to be very interesting, but there is so much potential news that could come and so much expansion of investor interest that I think a purely technical approach is a little narrow; although for an entry it is probably as good a method as any for establishing or adding to a position.
CLQ Very interesting day in OZ. 7M shares traded last minute, with the SP rising 7 points. Looking at the trading pattern, someone beat down the SP all day, then swept up everything at the end. Basically was able to buy 7M shares at the opening price, without that volume [3-4X normal full day] of buying spiking the price. I guess if you are buying at that volume, that is a viable strategy to shake the tree and gather the leaves..
Yes down all day, spike at the close.
On Travis blog today his subject was LEO Low Earth Orbit satellites and way to invest in an emerging technology.
If you have not thought about the role of Scandium in Aerospace rocketry note this. At present it costs about $25,000 a pound to put an object into orbit, a big portion of which is fuel. Every pound saved in the rocket or the payload saves another pound in fuel burned at liftoff. Low orbits will save considerable by using smaller rockets and small satellites due to mini electronics etc. Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are racing to get into the launch game with small retrievable and reusable lift vehicles/rockets. Think how much scandium is worth in reducing weight even at the reduced costs envisioned. $10,000 a pound would be economical.
CleanTeq proposes far less than that. Do you think there will be a demand?
No wonder that Airbus that is no.2 in planes but huge in space industry is interested. With a sure supply CLQ can be industry dominant for a long time.
Long $CLQ
arch1…between the LEO satellites and the drones there is going to be a lot of metal whizzing around overhead. And I am sure the ICBM rocket designers will appreciate scan/alu alloys too, since they will be able to get bigger nuclear bomb payloads on their rockets; although it will be preferable not to have too many of them actually flying about.
Mei Asx just a note to remember that it it thought the length of the veins in the area, are smaller, and maybe more extraction times are required.
As a speculative stock it appears it’s well placed location wise to benefit from any drilling – high grades – successes in the future.
billville, I agree on MEI, it is has a very nice potential upside based on its claim next to the adjacent deposit. The maps indicate that it has a significant chunk of the deposit within its claim boundary.
No position but favorably inclined as a high-return long-term cobalt speculation.
They are pretty far down the food chain for a mine getting developed, but if you are sold on cobalt and looking for a multi-bagger speculation you are starting from a very low market cap.

I have been following this thread for awhile. Iam very gratefuI for all the info shared here.
I have positions in Garibaldi,Erdene,K92,Sama.
I’d like to raise some cash (for various reasons) by selling.
Are any catalysts expected before year-end?
Hi Sheldon….Hard to make a pick to sell without reference to position size, your other holdings, your entry prices, or your degree of conviction about these four. Dangerously close to advice, which we are not supposed to give. As far as catalysts are concerned:
Garibaldi… there should be something coming but with their track record so far, who knows. IMO GGI one has the highest uncertainty of a viable deposit and is the one most likely to disappoint short-term, even though they owe the world more information. There is going to be more news but I think it is likely to disappoint.
Erdene…there should be a big resource estimate but in early 2018, not by end of this year. If you are out of it in early 2018 I think you will regret it.
K92…a production number release is due, but it is unlikely to be dramatic. However a discovery or increase in AU spot price could move it.
Sama…they just started a magnetic survey of their main property; prospective targets are likely to be reported, but no discoveries are likely.
Just my opinions, of course.
**
It would seem to me K92 and Erdene are duplicates insofar as they are AU related.
Of the two, I think that Erdene has larger upside; so I would rather sell K92 if I had
to sell one.
One way to look at it might be to order them as to which ones you would buy them right now with fresh cash, and sell the last place ticker. For me the priority order to buy would be Erdene, Sama, K92, then Garibaldi.
But that is just me; your opinion or the next person’s might be different for any number of reasons.
Sheldon…$ERDCF Erdene…this doesn’t change my opinion expressed above, Erdene is my top gold development/exploration pick. But I re-checked their website to confirm the expected resource announcement. . They are a little vague but refer to resource expansion in 2017, so it is possible there will be real news by year-end, before early 2018, as I opined earlier.
There are a lot of new graphics and additional exciting developments on the website. In particular they have some excellent graphics showing their idea of the deposit zone.
I have been predicting a really big resource estimate, and they are adding to this conviction nearly every month, drill hole upon drill hole. The existing old resource estimate was puny, in the low hundreds of thousands of AU ounces. It was based on drilling in an area that they abandoned after hitting paydirt in different zones from the original discovery. But I think the new resource estimate will be a blockbuster, district-sized resource number.
It is just a feeling; I have no knowledge of how drill intercepts translate to resource and reserve figures. Allowing for my lack of expertise, I can say the drill intercepts have been many and really good. Check them yourself.
Erdene found one discovery, then hit more good holes away from the first holes, and classed them as different zones. But it is beginning to appear that all these zones are connected underground, so the volume of mineraliztion is becoming very large. Their new graphics indicate that they believe these different deposit zones are connected underground to form one very large, monster ore body.
So when it comes to forecasting a number in the resource estimate, I get the feeling that it will be big…big enough to be in the millions of ounces. So many millions, you may need more fingers than you have on than one hand to count them. Honestly I will be very disappointed if they report less than 4 million ounces. Of course I claim no expertise in calculating resources and reserves. They pay experts to do this, and I am an investor and a speculator, not a geology or mining expert.
They have also added information on their copper prospect which is located to the west of the gold fields; and there is more upside in their exploration agreement with Teck; but these are gilding on the lily.
What I am betting on is an enormous gold resource to be announced in the next few months.
Erdene is a speculation, but it is one of the last positions I would consider selling in my entire portfolio. It ranks below the top dogs like Cleanteq and Sandstorm and Ivanhoe. It is a speculation; but I do not think there is a lot of downside, it keeps getting better, and I am loaded up.
Long $ERDCF
$ERDCF timetable…the reference to “resource expansion in 2017”
apparently refers to on-the-ground drilling activity, not to the publication of a revised resource estimate. In the permitting section of the latest presentation they refer to a revised resource estimate as being “anticipated in 2018”.

Hi Cowboy, I don’t know anything about manganese sources. Would appreciate some information and the basis for an opinion on AMYZF or any other source.
No opinion
HN…I wasn’t looking for a Manganese producer at all. A couple years back I had to buy new tractor batteries and had to return my old ones in exchange. The two young guys at the battery store were discussing the up coming EV market flood. These two were Engineering students at a local College. It was slow and I was listening to them talking about needed materials for the coming EV revolution, mainly about Musk’s Company. These young gentleman brought up the fact about how much copper, cobalt and such was going to be needed. I told them that I had invested in IVPAF ( Mostly because of RF ) for copper and zinc. They brought up other companies that are discussed here but also threw in a recycling penny stock which was AMYZF. It made sense what they said about the need for recycling all the batteries that were going to be used so I looked it up and bought some. And added more as it fell in price, and pretty much forgot about it until today. I missed Griffin’s comments on it some how. Like I said…I bought it as a Lottery ticket in my retirement account. Thanks to Griffin for having said something earlier about AMYZF and to SoGiAm for telling me about the comment search function. I’m old and do good to turn one of these computers on ! But I am learning slowly. That’s why I mostly just read. I still don’t know how to make a link that I post stand out so you don’t have to copy and paste… like this one http://www.infomine.com/investment/manganese/ Thanks guys for your knowledge and patients for my lack of computer skills…..Cowboy

$AMYZF – American Manganese looks like a good play though HN has better plays for quicker profits. I am subscribed to their newsletters most of which seem to be an attempt to just keep their name out in front so I don’t post. I was surprised that the new newsletter moved the SP as much as it did then things are a little different in the EU. I think it will be another 2-3 years before AMYZF will begin to have market presence. I kind of envision EV charging stations as being the gas stations of the 50s and 60s in the 21st century. They will have in addition to charging, replacement batteries, EV maintenance, WIFI, coffee, charging plans for lower cost than the average grid cost.

It seems to me that investing opportunity is not so distant in case of recycling, here is another company (although private) with recent video, claiming 100% recovery of materials.

Gonna go long on AMY. Thanks Cowboy for the reminder, I saw it here before, but forgot.

Not sure but I believe the grand total changess when you reload the website.
I now see what you mean Arch. Must be a daily function of some kind.
Hedy1234, #TU’s – the system functionality is current not operating.
I have sent a e-mails to three days ago to: Lynn@stockgumshoe.com , Payments@stockgumshoe.com and #ZKSS.
You may desire to do the same.

Metals/sulphides agglomerate on sea beds from dissolved minerals and then when subducted under continental shelves emerge in magmatic zones of volcanic ridges/mountains. Nickel Mtn. may be such and pod/pocket/lump of agglomerate may have been high nickel content with little else near Re. $GGI
https://twitter.com/PDChina
Sulphide boulder shown is example.
Earth is 80% water covered so logically nickel bearing meteorites should land in water 80% of the time.
Only since the oceans were formed in their current configuration. They have changed their extent frequently, the geological record is full of evidence that of sea and land have changing places , extent, and level many times.
The history of climate is also full of many global changes.
And none of it was not caused by Global Warming, or ICE emissions of CO2.
Let me put it a different way. As the Earth is presently 80% covered with water it is logical that 80% of past meteor strikes were in that 80% of Earths surface. If a meteor does not burn up in the atmosphere and one hit this month there is only a 20% chance it will be on dry land.
IF most of the nickel on earth came in the form of meteors that explains much of why it is a rare find in a large lode. Such as Sudbury Ontario Canada.
As far as I am concerned the meteors can crash anywhere they like, as long as they don’t fall onto the Cleanteq Sunrise project after it is built, or into my neighborhood. They can even go back to Sudbury.
They can fall onto the Cleanteq property in advance, since that would increase the Inferred Mineral Resources for nickel.
But we don’t want meteors crashing down there after the project is built. We don’t even want scandium alloyed ICBMs landing there, either.
Either scenario would present a problem.
Fortunately, the probabilities appear slim.
I laughed so hard at this my sides hurt. At least I enjoy my own humor. Sorry more of you didn’t like it.
Going forward I will try to put more drill core analyses and spectrographic data from ultramafic gabbroic intrusions and magmatic anomalies into my posts.
