Travis, I notice that you’re losing faith and cut back on First Mining FFMGF. Are you still holding firm with Trek LWLCF?
Sand: Turkey is going thru alsorts of political trouble, plus their relationship with the EU seems to have gone sour and all the Middle East/Isis/blow up a tourist etc turmoil will mean the 13% of their GDP from tourism is down the pan….I wouldnt accept a free holiday there right now even though its a fab country in stable times. So where will they recoup the 13% loss? I think SAND has done a decent deal on paper, but at a very wrong moment in time. It would take the stroke of a pen to see the mines nationalised and the glint of gold will be hard to resist if they become strapped for cash. SAND may have built this deal on a foundation of sand. Toss a coin for profit in our lifetimes.
I sold MARL handsomely and still hold a small position SAND (I was hoping for better days) But Im thinking Ill avg my combined position by selling and sitting out for now.
My primary worry on that front would be if the Turkish operator is somehow politically opposed to Erdogan, which doesn’t seem to be the case. But yes, certainly opposition-connected assets and companies are being seized in Turkey, it’s a real risk. Interesting article: http://stockholmcf.org/turkey-seized-809-companies-with-worth-10-billion/
I actually sold my position in Fairfax earlier this week because I’ve been disappointed in stock price. I know this is more of a long term hold and may re-enter later when it looks like growth picks back up.
I’ve been quite happy with Coresite since I bought it last year. I will probably take profits here and there unless something really big changes my view on this one.
Skyworks Solutions is an interesting choice. I’m still contemplating investing it them although the stock price is getting near it’s all time high from a few years ago. But with the economy still picking up steam (albeit slowly), SWKS should do well too, at least in the short term.
Thanks Travis, excellent Friday File, as usual. It is such a pleasure as well as great learning experience to be part od this club of irregulars….
I went a bit over the top by investing into QUALCOME ….too early and too much. For now I am just holding and hoping everthing will work out fine in the end. I feel more confident now since the shares recovered that quckly yesterday.
Now would be the time to buy more shares, not two months ago.
Also doubled my position in SKWS after their quarterly results.
Travis you are just the best guy outthere!!!
AWEsome!
kind regards to Lynn and the crew….

Thanks Travis! Could you comment on why you sold out of first mining at this level?
Just because I wanted to put a little more into SAND and FNV but didn’t want to really increase my allocation to gold. I’d think of it as staying in gold mining but moving several steps up the quality/safety scale (and also reducing the possibility of mega-gains if some of First Mining’s properties end up paying off). I’ve taken profits on First Mining several times over the past year or so, and will probably just leave this smaller position to smolder now unless/until there’s another big gold run to light it up.
Thanks, see the point! I like FF.V a lot, particular becuase of management and was intersted in your reasoning.
Thank you for the clarity on Sand, I also added about 20% more. I must add I am still not comfortable with that much exposure in Turkey.

Travis, You are far and away my primary newsletter and I greatly appreciate how much your service has both educated and profited me. Have held Sand and FNV before on your recommendations, but am out of gold currently. Recently made some profits shorting gold using DZZ-N which can only be a short term in/out holding for us chickens.
Dent continues to promote a short in gold with eventual target $600 to $700 which does not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling about this metal. But I do still like Altius.
Thanks for your always thoughtful insights.
Thank you, Stefan — hope it works well for you. I’m pretty skeptical about Dent’s demographics-based projections having any predictive power over the short term (like, anything under ten years), but it is certainly true that we’re headed into an unknown in the US when it comes to the Baby Boom generation, who are really starting to retire in earnest now (the first of them just turned 70), and the later boomer retirees are probably less likely to have good pensions or good savings than the earlier bunch and more likely to be encumbered by big mortgages or other debts.
