Morgan Stanley Warns the Strong Rail Ride Is Over — Market Talk
Morgan Stanley warns of looming weakness in railroad shipments, expecting growth will be harder to come by in 2H and beyond. The firm sees the biggest warning signs in auto shipments and coal moving by rails, which should hit eastern US railroads CSX and Norfolk Southern as well as the west’s Union Pacific. The firm cuts CSX and Union Pacific’s ratings a notch, with the former now underweight and latter equal weight, while also lowering price targets for all large US railroads. I don’t see Morgan Stanley logic. ICE autos will be replaced with EV autos, coal cars haven’t been upgraded to haul coal safely so is that a real loss. There are a lot ship containers, and 18 wheel trailers being hauled. I’d have to do some research to decide how valid MS demotion is.

That’s be great Joe. Create a folder in our Dropbox if you would, for the EV thread, and if it is specifically related to one equity then a sub-folder for each. New Dropbox Folder – Electric Vehicles
I just set up a new folder in the Gummie Dropbox (with a lot of trepidation since it’s otherwise all about biotechs and I do NOT want to offend anyone in this fantastic Gummunity.)
There are a series of 6 articles by KPMG in a separate folder and 3 others. All these articles are mostly about autonomous EV’s and maybe should be in a subfolder so labeled – let me know if you think so and I’ll fix.
I suggest reading the Rethink-X report first and you’ll understand my focus on autonomous when thinking about electric vehicles.

Thanks for the link to the KPMG Global exec survey. Very interesting to read how infrastructure must change before electric/hydrogen become reality. Dad ran his car/motorhome on hydrogen for years. He gratefully no longer drives for public safety reasons.
What I found confusing are the terms ‘inacceptable and ‘unconfident’ used by the writers……anyone?

I just added a couple more files to the EV folder. One is Random Notes – it’s a Word doc of random thoughts by me as I attempted to coalesce my thinking on A-EV (autonomous electric vehicles). A question was posted on another column about the cost recharging an EV. The question came about by the announcement from Shell Oil that they were going to have recharging stations at their service stations. The announcement was in this article;

I find this quite interesting, does anybody remember the old service stations that while your gas tank was filling you got your oil checked, windshield washed, tires checked. Recycling EV batteries where to go. How many of the old service stations still exist Shell, Standard/Chevron oil, and ???. I believe the questioner was from outside the USA and would really like to hear others not in the USA thoughts on owning EVs.

This is pretty great material. Getting late. Defiantly have to do more research on EV’s and get some positions in this market. Can’t believe I have pretty much had my head in the sand on this technology. Just don’t see it in the Street, ZACK’s, Motley, Bloomingburg, Nasdaq news, NYSE news ETC., except $TSLA NP.
