written by reader Google to stop financial Portfolio Service in November 2017

By acronym, October 26, 2017

I know these discussions are generally about specific stocks, but I wanted to raise the issue of Google Finance’s announcement that their financial portfolio tracking service will cease Mid November 2017. I imagine this will impact many Gumshoe members.

I really value Google’s portfolio service. I know it has a few faults and sometimes there are glitches, but on the whole it’s a fantastic service provided for free.
Features I value:
Simple, clear interface,
Charting of not just individual stocks, but your whole portfolio and historically too, from the date you purchased each of the stocks.
Coverage of US, Canada, European, UK and most world stocks.
Coverage of Investment Trusts
Currency adjusted.
Stocks can be sorted by any metric.
Profits/Losses totalled
Unlimited entries.

I can’t find another free website which offers all these features and the paid for ones I’ve looked at so far have all been deficient in one or more respects.
Does anyone know of a way to make them think again?
Does anyone know of any free or paid for sites that does what Google does? I live in the UK so worldwide market coverage is important.

Hi. I too share your concern and have not found a good alternative. Yahoo finance is extremely buggy and practically doesn’t give the same total twice when you look at different devices. Sometimes the data headers doesn’t match the data below it’s so bad. On the good side it tracks options, something missing in google. I wish persona capital would expand to Canada and UK soon!

You’re right, it is a good feature rich application. They are probably going to start charging for it or they have sold it to someone that will start selling it. Either way, we are left out in the cold.
