Why not allow automatic posting only from those whose history has proven their value: Contributors such as Helen, Glenn, Cleveland, Eyedoc, Zimmyzee, etc. DR KSS could compile this list as he sees fit.

All other posts would automatically be in moderation until once or twice a day they would be published. No need for constant moderation. A small number of moderators, maybe taking turns, would comb through the moderated posts once or twice daily. I don’t think it would take long to do this task because only the outrageous, bitter, offensive and insensitive posts would be barred. And overall, the vile posts are always a tiny portion of the total and should be easy and obvious to discern. It should be understood that their is no automatic right to post on the thread and that the right to post must be proven and one’s integrity must be maintained.

If something along these lines is not done, there will ALWAYS be a vile post here or there. We must see to it that this most learned, humanitarian and congenial thread survives.

Many here lurk. Many more should. If you have never attended a conference like NobleCon, JPM, etc then you have no idea how taxing these events are. Rise early, fight the crowds, grab coffee and something not too unhealthy to eat as you hustle to morning sessions. Try to shake off the cobwebs and fog induced staying up past midnight witness to an uneasy conflict between adrenaline and that extra drink you had. Actually pay attention to presentations while serving as correspondent and simultaneously appointment secretary for those all-important face-to-face meetings. Make pleasant small talk at breaks, grab more coffee, head back into the dimly lit rooms. Check what the market is doing somehow. Remember that you’re three time zones from home and dammit it’s lunchtime already but you’ve got another 90 minutes to go. Leave for your lunch meeting and try to get in & out with the other 20,000 attendees. Prepare and ask incisive questions which management can and will answer. Return for the afternoon. Repeat the morning drill. More schmoozing and too much to eat & drink at dinner.

Hopefully by now you can glean that while prima facie glamorous, this routine is rather masochistic, absolutely exhausting and mentally draining. And Doc has been doing this for all of us and providing better coverage than you can get anywhere else at any price.

What does he get for his trouble, mental and physical exhaustion? Some really unsavory and unfounded accusations which implicate not only him, but also everyone here who reads him, in felonious behavior. And apparently accusatory notes to his “boss.” Wow, what a way to thank him. With friends like these…

If you like the product, support it. If you have something substantive and constructive to add, then please do. Otherwise please heed the words of Yogi Berra: “You can observe a lot just by watching.”

$APTO, long and OW – To clarify:
Here is the February 1, 2018 SEC 6-K report found on $APTO’s website:
“February 1, 2018 6-K Report of foreign issuer rules 13a-16 and 15d-16 of the Securities Exchange Act.”
Within that 6-K is the reporting of the January 2017 press release. I missed that the report’s internal press release date was 2017 and appreciate those of you calling my attention to same; however, the point I was making in my initial post above is even more strongly felt and herein restated. This SEC 6-K report should have been filed in January 2017, NOT February, 2018 (under date of 1/31/18). The company seems to be making up for a year-old reporting oversight. – please read the 6-K filing, including the signature date, for yourselves. Best regards – Curt

    1. The idea of having a “White List” of approved contributors whose posts appear directly and the rest wait in moderation sounds to me feasible, and like it would have the desired effect.

    2. It couldn’t happen now as it would have to be site-wide across SG. It could well happen in the new BioTalk section if we are lucky enough that Doc consents to participate in it, after all this.

    3. I volunteer to share the moderating duties, should it happen. Beware, I would be strict!

    Dear everyone, dear Travis

Something has got to change. I’m sick of coming here to find everything in disarray. Tired of knowing that the good drKss logs on to help, to share, to entertain and teach, and then we hurt him, question him, insinuate stupidities, and the pilers on pile on.

The well being of drKSS is equal to the well being of our beloved site.

I dont run the site, I dont know what is technically feasible, but something has to be done.

I suggest strict moderation of EVERY POST until we get things in order. Ok, discussion will run a little slower, but its worth it.

I don’t mind moderating on Central European Time. I’m thorough.

I need some help. Just read an article entitled: “Cancer jab that eliminates tumours even after they’ve spread will start human trials”

OK, so that got my attention. It mentions Stanford University, but no particular company. Sounds good, but just too good to be true.

Here are a few sentences from the article:

“The drug combination works by switching on immune cells inside the tumours which have been deactivated by the cancer, then boosting them so they can go to work killing the disease.

And once the immune cells have been reactivated, they recognise other cancer cells elsewhere in the body and set about clearing them out.

Scientists said the therapy worked ‘startlingly well’ in mice. Nine out of 10 animals were cured of cancer after just one jab, and the rest after a second injection.

“When we use these two agents together, we see the elimination of tumors all over the body,” said Dr Ronald Levy, Professor of Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine.”

Sounds pretty impressive. So does anyone have any idea what in the world this article is referring to? I don’t, but I’m sure some of you do.

    Thanks in advance.

  8. We’ll turn off the comment thread until I have a chance to speak with Dr. KSS.

  9. I was waiting to hear back from Dr. KSS regarding his future wishes following his decision to leave Stock Gumshoe, and to see how we might ease that transition, but I see that he’s announced his plans publicly on Twitter so I can let you know that you can currently find him there (@KSSMDPhD)

I’m thankful for the interesting commentary that Dr.KSS shared with our readers over the past few years, and I wish him well in his future work.
