Why would Zee fix something that’s not broken?
With all the analytics he has access to, maybe he knows something that he hasn’t told the analysts.
It’s not broken in a financial sense, it’s making tons of money — but it’s certainly broken in other ways, such as the inability to distinguish between marketing drivel , propaganda, and journalism… the surge of people thinking that they’re getting their capital N News from Facebook is really, really disturbing and self-reinforcing as a social problem, and the amount of completely marketing-driven crap on the network has to drive Zuckerberg crazy — the marketers always figure out how to manipulate things before everyone else understands what’s going on.
Really, I think they’ll try to move away from being a news distribution platform and try to return to being a “build connections” platform, but it’s really an open question what that will mean and how (or if, or when) that will work. And what impact it will have on the finances is by no means a given — if it’s better for people, and makes them feel better, and businesses can’t squeeze into the News Feed organically, then it might actually generate more revenue for Facebook because buying advertising will be the only way for marketers to get into that News Feed. We’ll see. Should be interesting times.
What I think he is saying is that he plans to get rid of free business advertising and focus on paid advertising. Less promoting your business, your stupid youtube videos and promotional stuff that clog up my FB. You want to advertise, you pay.
Zuck knows what he is doing. He loves money.
For me this dip means, buy more 31th january we see
Zuck seems to under promise and over deliver as the norm. After 3q reports came out with fantastic numbers he then made another statement about having more control and getting tougher by regulating posts that were possible terrorist related. I think he’s smart to get ahead of any government regulations before they start. This may also set up a much better opportunity to spread into other countries who have strict regulations as far as what you can and cannot post. I believe he’s looking much farther out than most investors understand and he puts the integrity of FB and long term sustainability ahead of any short term volatility in the price of the stock. I’m long FB and will add on any big dips for future gains. To think Zuck all of a sudden doesn’t know what he’s doing after what he’s already accomplished would be just plain silly. IMHO. JB
