I may have missed discourse on this Experiment, regarding the Company which has taken over the Carnegie Mellon University’s Pittsburgh Project. Apparently, a former student of that institution, ”Brandon F.” developed the seeing device in his Florida garage. This new technology helped to develop an autonomous tractor-trailer that drove from Pittsburgh to Colorado Springs on October 25, 2016, carrying 51744 cans of Budweiser beer. The technology, which I see as a disruptor to the diverse and sundry autonomous vehicle experiments, is a rotary device, which is placed on the top of the vehicle(s), spins 360 degrees per second, faster than a human eye can see. It can differentiate between a dog and a person, recognizes traffic lights, stop signs and most other traffic control devices, which, through deep learning, stores all of that data, in order to be able to ”see” and later recognize and discern between a red light and a green light, for instance. The trip went off without a hitch, had a ”driver” who sat behind the vehicle’s operating equipment; however, he NEVER had to interfere with the vehicle’s travels. I can find several references to it through Google inquiries, but cannot find which company now owns the project. If you have already discussed this topic, please direct me to the discussion, comments, etc.
