refund notifications – where does this come from?

By pmortho, October 1, 2018

I continual receive mail saying ”please contact us regarding a refund …”. Is there a way to verify this w/o calling the posted phone number? Thanks, Houston, TX

Haven’t heard of that one, but it certainly sounds like the beginning of a phishing scam. Who’s the “refund” supposed to be from?

I’ve seen “call us for your tax refund” email scams before, and those are certainly scams — the IRS never emails anything important, you’ll get it in the US mail.
