I’m not a subscriber to yield hunting, but I’m looking at using the service as a small way to hedge my portfolio. The review on their site is really good, but to get a non-objective rating of the service visit TipRanks.com. This is a non-objective service that ranks analysts, financial bloggers, etc. (I have no affiliation with this site at all). When you go to the site enter Yield Hunters management company: Alpha Gen Capital. A very impressive ranking, almost 5 stars, and they rank 429 out of 6600 bloggers. The average return is about 3.3%, but with this service, you are not looking for a home run, but risk-adjusted returns. Their success rate of picking investments is only 55%, but the losing investment drawdown is low. They are classified as a Hedged Fixed Income Service.

Yes. I’ve been a subscriber for several months. I’d rate it 5 stars. Very specific and timely recommendations I’ve done much better with this service than Contrarian Outlook. It’s strength is Closed End Funds, buying at discounts and selling when the discounts tighten. Ok for buy and holders too but you’ll make more money if you pay attention to buy and sell signals.-especially opportunistic buys. AGC who runs the newsletter and is quite prolific sending out emails around 5-6 times a week, He is quite conservative on his buy and sell signals with entry prices low enough to de-risk your portfolio. Sometimes sells before fund runs even higher but better safe than sorry.
Has several spreadsheets with portfolios for different kinds if investors. Aggressive, moderate, Conservative and Bunker. Also has baby bonds, preferred stocks, mutual funds , ETFs and BDCs. Since I am retired and this service is geared toward income production, I find AGC’s expertise in CEFs is the chief value of this service. I have easily more than doubled my income producing dividends while preserving or growing my portfolio value. But to get the most out of this service. you should read the portfolio buy and sell recommends regularly to take advantage of opportunities AGC points out (sometime only available for a short time). He does respond to emails – sometimes right away, sometimes in a week and some not at all. Although he does incorporate readers’ feedback in his regular updates. Overall a top notch and valuable service for income production that easily pays for itself. Best newsletter service I gotten since highly effective Motley Fools stock newsletter.- except this is for closed end funds not stocks.

Pros: A lot of information and education
    Timely buys and sells
Covers a large and varied amount of investments -just about anything income producing
Clear, concise, easy to follow advise.
Good for beginners and advanced investors

    Cons
A little expensive but we’ll worth it.
Sometimes NAV feeds on spreadsheets are incorrect so you must double check
Doesn’t always get back right away but generally responsive
A lot of information can be overwhelming for newbies.
